When running a tune in BIAB with build 463, the alt key does not work for muting instruments. It does work if you stop the tune. I'm pretty sure this didn't happen with build 462. Anyone else have this problem? Is there a solution?

hoppysheba,
I just tried this with build 463 and it worked for me. I used ALT+5 (etc.) with the numbers on the keyboard. It doesn't work with the numbers on the number pad.

I was also using the keyboard numbers (not the numeric keypad). If BIAB is not playing the tune my ALT + 5 works for muting the drums. But once I click play, ALT 5 does not mute or unmute the drums.
I've tried this on three different computers - same result.
Your ALT 5 works for muting after you press play in build 463?

I just reloaded build 462. The keyboard shortcuts for muting and unmuting works properly. Can someone verify that their build 463 when muting and unmuting when playing a tune works or not?

I've tried build 462 and 463 and they both work and mute/unmute when the song is playing and not playing. I run Windows 7.
Because I help with testing the pre-release builds, I've passed on this thread's link to Support.
Do you run the program from the computer's hard drive or from a USB drive? Also, what operating system are you using?

I was able to get the keyboard shortcuts (ALT 3, ALT 4, ALT 5, ...) to work by unchecking, in the conductor window, "Enable Control by QWERTY keys"
If it's checked these keyboard shortcuts for muting and unmuting instruments do no work on my computer when running Build 463.
Can someone verify if that happens with their BIAB using 463?

Does it still work for you if you go to the conductor window and check "enable qwerty keys..."?
I believe that's what happen. Before Build 463 the keyboard shortcuts (ALT 3, ALT 4, ALT 5,...) to turn off an instrument would work no matter if "enable qwerty keys..." was checked or not.
In build 463, the keyboard shortcuts do not work if "enable qwerty keys..." is checked in the conductor window.
This bug has been reported to PG music.

Now build 463 works for the hot keys (alt 3, alt 4, ...) to turn on or off instruments.
When build 463 came out on April 28, they didn't work.
So PG music will update a current build without changing the build number?

hoppysheba,
I'm not quite sure what happened to your BIAB that got it working again but there has not been an unannounced change to build 463. I'm one of the people who pre-test the new builds and I would have definitely known about it if that were the case. (We are presently testing build 464).
On my system when I had build 463 installed, the ALT+X keys always worked (as I mentioned above). This means that the problem you experienced wasn't shared by everyone. If everything is working for you now, that's good.
Regards, Noel

That is strange. I have emails from tech support on May 4 that said they had duplicated the problem, that it was a bug, and that they would get it fixed. I just assumed it wouldn't be fixed until 464 came out.

If I recall correctly, sometimes they release a "patch" to address certain minor issues without changing the build number. However, I didn't see any announcement of such a patch at this time...

Out of curiosity, I did a file compare of my two downloads (April 29 and today) for build 463. There were no differences. So I do not understand what happen. The problem did exist on all three of my computers and now the bug is gone.

My apologies to everyone. The bug is still there. I forgot that the bug only happens when the tune is playing. When BIAB is not playing, the keyboard shortcuts (ALT 3, ALT 4, ...) work fine. They don't work in Build 463 if the tune is running. I'm sorry about all the unnecessary posts.

If I recall correctly, sometimes they release a "patch" to address certain minor issues without changing the build number... Very rarely, and not in a few years as I recall. Several of us encouraged PG Music not to do that.

So PG music will update a current build without changing the build number? There's likely to be a revision number to the build number that identifies a minor release. There's a hidden trick to show the revision. Create a blank text file named: "ShowReleaseNumber.txt" in your x:\bb\ folder. In Help > About, you will then see a Release number alongside the Build number.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
