I'm re-posting my songs so I can update the links to my Soudcloud page... since all my songs have been deleted from the site I originally used. I will do this gradually so as not to overwhelm or be disrespectful of other posters. Hard to believe this was over 6 years ago! (2/8/11) Here's my latest creation. I've been working on this for the last couple of weeks. I got a new Fender Telecaster Custom Deluxe from the Fender Custom Shop almost three weeks ago (nicest guitar I've ever owned) and I can't seem to put the dang thing away and not play it. Anyway, I was practicing with a backing track on my Fender G-Dec amplifier and came up with this lick that just sounded so cool with my new Tele. So I decided to see if I could come up with a whole song based on this backing track & lick. So I brought the midi file (drums, bass & strings) into RB and changed them to audio files and adjusted to the right length, then added some other RealDrum tracks and brought them all into Reaper, then added my guitar parts & vocals. So the only RT's are the drum parts. I also did something different in that I used my JamVox for the guitar parts (which I usually do) but this time instead of recording the guitars dry and adding FX in Reaper, I used the FX from the guitar settings in JamVox 'cause I really liked the way they sounded. Most of the guitar parts are my new Tele but my Strat does have a track as well. (Had to... he was gettin' jealous) The song is meant to make you grin. It is a little long so we'll call it the dance mix. All comments welcome. Greg,
I can't believe it was 6 years ago that you posted this either!
The sound that you've created here is awesome. Your production really sizzles! There's so much attention to detail... the mix, the harmony, the arrangement, your vocals, your guitar work... just wow!!
This is definitely one that lights up the listener! The 5½ minutes zipped by in a flash.
It's great to see you around in the forum again.
All the best, Noel

Hi, Greg... good to see ya back around.
I remember this one. Nice guitar work throughout. Sort of a ZZ Top vibe to it.
Enjoyed it again.

I don't remember it but I'm old And it might have been before we came on board. Regardless, it's a LOT of fun and extremely well performed and produced. Like Noel said "there is so much attention to detail." Radio ready it is...were they playing good stuff nowadays. Enjoyed it! J&B

Greg,
We've only been here for about three years or so, thus we missed the original post. But this baby rocks! And ... who says you can't write a darned good song with just one chord? You shot that theory all to hell!
I'm (Alan) a lead guitarist - have been for over 50 years - so I kind of hone in on that. Two things caught my attention:
1. Your playing is exceptionally clean - no fumbled notes, no string buzz, everything little detail is consistent.
2. Your creative approach - knowing when and how to re-emphasize the "catch phrases", how to make the guitar standout be highlited without cranking the volume to 12 on a scale of 1 - 10, and the harmonic layering. The guitar parts were understated but took a spotlight right next to the excellent vocal.
Every little detail was measured and put exactly when, where and how it should have been. Tip of the hat for a great song, performance and production. Best to you,
ALan & Di

I've always been pretty proud of this song & the production... And you all just confirmed that I should be. Thanks again!

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
