Hello, everybody

This is my newest song written for our latest recording session in this summer.
I wrote it with the music style of the late 1950s or early 1960s such as Connie Francis, Neil Sedaka and etc.
I would like to introduce you two versions with the same score, which are the RealTrack version and the live band version.
Any comments encouraged.
Have at it.

Best regards.

Shigeki Adachi

Title: サヨナラっていう前に (Translation: Before Saying Goodbye)

Link of RealTracks Version:
Vocal: 初音ミク Miku Hatsune (Vocaloid)

Link of Live Band Version by Yamaha Teachers:
Vocal: Yumi, my music circle friend

Style is PERCY!~.STY(MIDI)
Acoustic Bass (33) assigned to Wood Bass
Acoustic Piano(1) assigned to Grand Piano
Nylon String Guitar(25) assigned to Jazz Guitar
Strings(49) assigned to Strings
RealDrums:Pop128^6-a:SideStick, HiHat , b:Snare, HiHat
Sax Solo: ~490:Sax, Alto
Additional 1st violins scored by me
Strings and 1st violins played with EastWest Symphonic Orchestra
Grand Piano played with Steingberg The Grand
Jazz Guitar played with EastWest Goliath

Summary of lyrics:

In our future life
We might meet again accidentally
But the two of us at that time
Will be just acquaintances or only old friends

Although the goodbye I will say to you now
Does not mean that we will never meet again
Please understand the meaning of this goodbye
Please guess my true intension

Around the place where I put my shelf
The color of the floor has changed with the surroundings
But by the time the color becomes inconspicuous
Please forget me properly

As I will be careful not to go through this street
As much as possible
Even if you see me somewhere
Please don’t talk to me, please make indifference

I think the memories with you
Have not been all bad things
But I would like to put them away now
I want you to forget me properly

Sometimes I might remember you
And I might look back on our days with nostalgia
But there will not be any equal feelings to the past days
And I have already decided to say goodbye to you
Please guess my true intension
And please nod to me with silence

Shideki,

I find your music very refreshing and joyful.
Not knowing anything of this style (other than a few Neil Sedaka records my mum used to play), I was reminded of romantic movie songs from the 50`s.
The live band recording is my favourite of the two but its remarkable how close the vocaloid version and Yumi sound: did you make the vocaloid track as a way to introduce the song to your band members?
Super string arrangements and production as we`ve come to expect from you.

I always look forward to seeing more of your guys' stuff! <3 I also love that you used Miku-chan (especially considering you used her vocals) as the album art for this song! Feels fitting for the style of the song, but I also really enjoy the live band version as well.

Hello, Robert, Kenny, Alan & Di, Ember

Thank you very much for taking the time to listen and comment.
And many thanks for listening the both versions and for your really nice comments to my composition, Yamaha teacher's play and Yumi's vocal.
I much appreciate always your very kind words and continuous supports.

Robert,
Yumi listens to the vocaloid version many times to remember the melody of this song.
On the other hand, the players never listen to it and play according to the instruction on the music sheet.
If you are interested in my music score used in the session, you can see the pdf file of it at the link below.

Thanks again to all.

What a tune! I wouldn't change a thing here. The arrangement and mixing job on this is flawless, and the general tone and mood of it is incredible. I sincerely could listen to this over and over.

Thanks for sharing, Shigeki! You should be very proud of this one smile

Thank you for the opportunity to hear both versions. It is remarkable how well the BiaB/Vocaloid version sounds. You and BiaB folks should be proud of this as it well illustrates your talent and the capabilities of BiaB.

Our favorite was the live version but we are biased because we so much like her vocals.

Great work!

Hello, Deryk, Peter, Tom, Janice & Bud

Thank you very much for taking the time to listen and comment.
And many thanks for listening the both versions.
I much appreciate your really nice comments and continuous supports.
I also think that Band-in-a-box is a wonderful software.
In order to avoid the failure in the recording session, I often use BIAB in advance to check whether I can produce my intended sound even in actual performance. BIAB surely comes up to such uses.

Thanks again to all.
Best regards.

Another very pretty song. Your use of vocaloid frankly works extremely well.

I really like the chord structures that you used. Intentionally intriguing.

Shigeki Adachi,

Both versions are a delight to hear. Your score has such "life". You capture the era sound well.

You mixes are always excellent. The live recording is very well recorded, too...

Very professional sound on both. Enjoyed.

Alan is right-"always a treat"!! I had to listen to the live vocal because I think it does the song more justice to have a real singer. This is musically wonderful. In reading your lyrics, there is a beautiful sentiment, and a wonderful poetic sense. Excellent!!! Take care. Greg
