Another good one, Alan. Agree with Floyd about the vocals, and good catch about the "pennys". Love the horns. They do work just fine as they are.

Another example of your versatility.

This is amazing smile Great melody and romantic lyrics capturing the 50's movie feeling, positive sound and melancholy in lyrics make a nice mix. Excellent vocals as always. The mixing of the horns is superb.

Thanks, Kenny! I sure do appreciate all the kind comments. I'm gonna redo the vocal next week using Floyd's suggestions. Will repost then.

I'm doing pretty good. Di's health is a constant issue, but we do as much as we can in that area. Thanks for asking!

Best to you & yours.

Alan & Di

"It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing."

Big band is the first music I remember as my Daddy was a big fan. It didn't take me long back then to latch on to Elvis but I've always, as does Janice, had love for the genre. Particularly when it swings.

We really enjoyed this. Say what you will about your voice but you have a genuine feel for the style. Janice listens to a LOT of Frank and Ella and Duke and Benny so we do have a basis for saying: "You nailed it!"

Nice

Hello, Alan

Yes, This is entirely a sonf of Sinatra with Nelson Riddle orchestra.
I also like Sinatra's songs in the Reprise era, but I like his songs in the Capitol era more.
Your song reminds me of the Capitol era.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

Janice & Bud,

I really, truly appreciate those very kind words. It's a genre that comes naturally to me. Much like you, Bud, I had a lot of exposure to big band swing at an early age. Until was half-way through high school, my mother was a stay at home mom and always had the old movies on the TV throughout the day, when they were being televised. I can vividly remember the Bing Crosby, Carmen Miranda, Tommy Dorsey, Glenn Miller tunes in the songs. My father was rhythm guitar player and singer in the old country music of the era (Jimmy Rodgers, Hank Williams Sr., Hank Thompson. Sons Of The Pioneers, Bob Wills, etc. So, I had exposure to a lot of good music as I was growing up.

I'm delighted you enjoyed this one. Your "Seal Of Approval" put a big smile on my face. Thank you so much!!!

Alan

Thank you, Peter! The arrangement fell into place pretty easily. Just had to play with the horns quite a bit to get the sound O wanted - actually, something close to the sound I wanted. The big band horns in BIAB are a temperamental group and like to do things their way. I spent close to two hours just on the horns.

Thank you again. Much appreciated.

Alan

Hi Shigeki,

I always look forward to your comments. You are a talented musician and composer. I have no formal musical training whatsoever. Almost everything I've learned is from listening and practicing.

I agree with you about SInatra from his time with Capitol Records. The arrangements were more intricate and the tonal quality was better - more vibrant and "alive".

Thank you very much fro your nice comments. They mean a lot. Wishing you the best,

Alan

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
