Does the dll file for Aria Player plug-in VST need to reside somewhere in the c:\bb folder or in another folder somewhere in order to be installed? If so, where should I put a copy of it? I can't seem to make it install where it is (currently located c:\program files(x86)\steinberg\VstPlugins\Garritan which was created by my Finale installation.)
Thanks in advance!

I always install 3rd party plugins in their default directories as determined by the program's installer. That seems to get the best results. There's no reason to copy it to \bb.
Below is how I go about adding a VSTi plugin into BIAB.
2. Select a track that has MIDI on it. I've used the Piano track (lower image).
(MIDI tracks are identified by yellow writing. If the writing is green, it's a Realtrack. Synth options are not available for Realtracks, only effect options are.)
3. Select the "Add VSTi option, navigate to where Aria/Garritan is located and select it.
(The path you give in your post for your location of Garritan is identical to mine.)
That was the procedure I used, but the plugin will not install. I have sent a note to support.

A couple of thoughts that might or might not help...
1. If what you've tried to load is a DXi version of the plugin, it cannot be loaded via the "Add VSTi plugin" method above.
2. If you've tried to load a 64-bit version of the plugin that will not be able to added unless you have jbridge installed because BIAB is a 32-bit application.
Even though the "\program files(x86)" should contain only 32-bit plugins, there've been instances on these forums where 64-bit plugins have also been added to directories therein. The 32-bit plugin will have _x86 in its name.
3. Did you try both the _x86 and the _x86(multi) plugins? It might be that one of these works with BIAB and the other does not (as you can see from my images, I have the _x86 one loaded).
I don't know if this will help but the below link will take you to the latest version of Aria Player (it's free).
Thanks for the quick reply, Noel. Before I posted, I made sure I was using the 32 bit version of the Aria player dll, and it is definitely a VST plugin. It does give an error dialog if I try using the 64 bit version (I do not have jBridge.)

Firstly, and I've corrected my first post to include this, the path of your Garritan folder is identical to mine.
Secondly, as I'm sitting here thinking about it, a while back, I had an issue with a plugin that wouldn't load and, while I'm not absolutely sure, I think it was Aria Player (if my brain is remembering correctly, I tried to use Garritan Jazz and Big Band which I bought a few years ago from PG Music).
My immediate response was to feel annoyed/confused because I like JABB.
Anyway, I installed the latest update for the player and it worked again. I wonder if this might be worth a try?
I will certainly give that a try. Otherwise, perhaps the best solution is to use the stand-alone Aria player for midi files and save audio file from it.
Really appreciate all your advice.

Janet, sometimes when you update the Aria Player you must also update the Garritan programs. Be sure to check the Garritan web site as well as the Aria Player site for that information. Been there -Done that!
My goal this weekend is to move just enough each day so that no one pokes me to see if I'm dead or not.
64 bit Win 10 Pro, the latest BiaB/RB, Roland Octa-Capture audio interface, a ton of software/hardware
I will certainly give that a try. Otherwise, perhaps the best solution is to use the stand-alone Aria player for midi files and save audio file from it.

Janet,
I use Reaper 64-bit as my DAW and I'd definitely be more likely to transfer a midi file from BIAB or RB and use Garritan in Reaper. Ultimately, I mix all my songs in a DAW so working with midi at that point in time suits me well.
I personally find that the DAW enviroment offers much more versatility than the BIAB environment and Reaper is incredibly powerful software.
Aria definitely works here. And it is not a DXi plugin; strictly a VSTi plugin.
When you install Aria, it will ask you where you want your plugins installed and it will install both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the plugin.
The plugin names are:
ARIA Player VST_x64
ARIA Player Multi VST_x64
ARIA Player VST_x86
ARIA Player Multi VST_x86
In BIAB you don't want to load the Multi; that's to support multiple audio outputs, but BIAB only has one stereo output. If you have a sound card with multiple outputs with your DAW, then you may want to use the Multi version to send the output to different paths for further processing.
Only use the x64 version if you have jbridge installed; however, I don't believe that the Garritan libraries are so huge that you'll have problems using the 32-bit version with BIAB.
One thing to be careful of (and this doesn't apply to Aria)...the name of the VSTi as shown in BIAB is exactly the same whether it's the 32-bit or 64-bit plugin. Kontakt is a good example of this. For that reason, if you have the 32-bit version loaded in your list of available plugins, in order to use the 64-bit version, you have to remove the 32-bit version, then load the 64-bit version (because both are called "Kontakt".
In the case of the Aria plugin, howoever, the 32-bit is shown as x86 and the 64-bit is shown as x64; so both can be in your list at the same time (again, make sure you have jbridge for the 64-bit version).
If it's still not loading, then it makes me think it could be one of the DX/VST flag files that is causing a problem. I can't remember the exact procedure for that, but I know Kent from PGMusic has helped some folks fix this type of issue.
