Hello. I have a question about Add-0ns. I use BB2018 Pro, Win10. Since my BB is the basic package, I just thought I would get whatever Add-ons I need as I go.
I recently bought RTs set 58 (Jazz & Pop Waltzes) because I want jazz waltz with even feel. I simply thought if I buy this set, I would get those seven patterns as shown on the page,
Bass, Acoustic, PopWaltz Ev 085 Bass, Acoustic, PopWaltz Ev 085 (A:simple) Bass, Acoustic, PopWaltz Ev 085 (B:energetic) Piano, Acoustic, Rhythm PopWaltz Ev 085 Piano, Acoustic, Rhythm PopWaltz Ev 085 (A:simple) Piano, Acoustic, Rhythm PopWaltz Ev 085 (B:energetic) Sax, Tenor, Soloist Jazz Waltz Sw 140
But it doesn't work like that?
When I open the style picker window and search for jazz waltz even feel realtracks, I see only one PopWaltz (with others I already have) And when I choose this PopWaltz for my song, 2 error messages pop up,
Cannot load drum style, because this folder does not exists. C:\bb\Drums\PopWaltzEven8^\PopWaltzEven8^3-Hihat,Ride
RealDrums not found (Style) [PopWaltzEven8^3-Hihat, Ride]
Do I have to buy RDs set along with RTs set? I'm very confused.
Stylepicker is not the best place to find out what Realtracks you have because it might be that you have purchased some Realtracks that have not been assigned a style.
Much better to go into Realtrack picker...
1. Right-click on one of the tracks in the mixer and then follow the numbers on the top image below.
2. When Realtrack Picker opens, click on the "Realtrack #" column and the Realtracks will be sorted numerically. (See lower image.)
NOTE: Click on "Show all" (at the bottom of the window) prior to sorting. I'd also deactivate the "Show Realtracks that are N/A" since the Pro edition would have many N/A RTs and it would be visually clearer to help identify what you have if this is off.
Realdrums has its own Realdrum Picker, too. It is accessed by right-clicking on the Drums track and selecting "Realdrums in style". It's very similar to Realtrack Picker.
Both Realdrums and Realtrack Pickers allow a user to select their own individual drums for Realtracks to use with instrument selection.
In other words, whereas a style automatically loads a predetermined choice of instruments and drums, the Realdrums and Realtracks Pickers let users manually choose what instruments they want to have.
The reason I mentioned Realtrack Picker to you is because in your original post, you were concerned about not getting particular Realtracks in Set 58.
Realtracks Picker will let you see if you did get them.
Instead of sorting by # as mentioned originally, sort by Set and then scroll to 58 to see if you did get what you purchased.
The top below image shows the Realtracks that I have in Set 58 for comparison to what you have.
The bottom image below, shows Realdrum Picker.
Using Realdrum it is always possible to substitute any set of drums for another set. Just click on it and then select 'OK'.
Hello, thank you again, Noel. I've just noticed you're in Australia too, and I'm so glad!
OK, as for RealTracks set 58, it looks like I've got everything like you do. (the first pic)
However it does not look good for RealDrums. (the 2nd pic) I don't have any PopWaltz. So the error messages I get are right. That means I have to buy a certain RDs set?
Whenever I buy a RTs set, I have to buy a RDs set as well? How do I know which RTs set goes with which RDs set? Not very simple, is it?
Before buying any Realdrums, it might be that you have a perfectly good substitute set of Realdrums to use.
And to be honest, I'm not sure that the PopWaltz I inadvertently selected above would do the job anyway because it is based on 'swing 8th notes' (the SW 8 labels indicate this). By comparison, most of the instruments in set 58 are based on 'even eighth notes' (as seen by the EV 8 label).
So to find a good substitute set of drums....
1. Set 58 contains RTs at two different tempos and two different styles. Most of the RTs are designed for use at 85 bpm and are based on even eighth notes (EV 8).
The two sax soloists are based on swing eighth notes (SW 8) and designed for use at 140 bpm.
2. Open Realdrum picker (right-click on Drum track | select 'Realdrums in style').
3. In the 'Filter' (#1) on image, type 'waltz' (no inverted commas).
4. Click on 'Update' (#2)
5. Let's say we are using RTs from set 58 that are EV 8 at 85 bpm. This means we need to select and EV 8 set of drums whose tempo range accommodates 85 bpm.
The "Lo" and "Hi" give the minimum and maximum recommended tempos that a drum set is best used with. For example: it can be seen the ModJazzWlatz^ is EV 8 but its tempo range is from 100 - 180 bpm. That while the even eighth feel is correct, 85 bpm is outside the given range (this one is still worth a try, though).
From the list of waltzes that I have (UltraPak/Audiophile version of 2018), it looks like PopWaltzEven8^ would potentially do the job.
6. Select PopWaltzEven8^ and click OK so that the drums are loaded onto the BIAB Drum track.
As mentioned above, while the ModJazzWaltz^ doesn't have a "Lo" of at least 85, I would still try this because it might work.
Rather than purchasing Realtrack sets and Realdrum sets individually, it might be worthwhile considering something like the Jazz RealPaks which are collections of Jazz Realdrums and Realtracks.
If this option is a possibility, PG Music will refund the purchase of the Realtrack set (provided you bought it less than 30 days ago) and credit it towards the RealPak sets, all you have to do is ask.

But you have PopWaltzEven8^ underneath the PopWaltz Sw, and that should be it that I need.
I followed your instructions and filtered by "watlz" and as you can see from the pic, I don't have it. That's why errors pop up.
I know the RealPAK but it's still cheaper if I buy RTs set and RDs set. But I'll have a look.
I've emailed PG music but no response, I've send a few emails since I upgraded to BB2018 Pro early Dec, but they have never returned my emails yet. I tried the live help but the operator could not help me on this one. I'll try again......
I notice that you can't see everything that is in your columns. If you wish to expand the size of the column so that everything becomes fully visible...
1. Hold the mouse cursor in the column headings over the line between columns.
2. The mouse cursor will change to a vertical bar with opposing horizontal arrows.
3. When that happens, hold the right mouse button down and drag the column to the left (to expand).

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
