This is very useful information. Sadly, up-to-date videos for RealBand seem a bit thin on the ground. I would love one on mixer automation or using midi automation in RealBand.

I have inconsistent results w/ both nodes and recorded mixer moves. I've had nodes go all screwy on me as I've demonstrated to Kent- like my handful of nodes placed for a particular channel ends up with dozens of them. Clean Up Nodes doesn't do anything and I've had to manually delete the superfluous ones.
Mixer moves, particularly fader moves can be weird. It doesn't mirror what I've done. And if the song begins at a particular volume, then changes in the song, restarting the song doesn't force the fader to reset to what s/b the opening volume- you need to do it manually. At least this happens here! Going to try the 2018 build. Thanks!
Check your setting for 'Send most recent controller' in MIDI Prefs. See image below. This should set the mixer to the correct settings for a given point in a song by checking for the control change(s) located before the playback point and setting things to there before playing back.
If this doesn't fix it try entering a Control Change at the beginning of the song. The Event List can do this. Try entering Controller 7 and set the volume to whatever you want for the start of the song. Then when you rewind to beginning it should reset.
CC7 generally controls those Nodes. In my experience the nodes show in the Event List for manual editing, and dragging nodes changes them in the Event List.
Make your sound your own! .. I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome
Hi all A possible alternative approach that I found after a lot of headache. Copied from an old post of mine.
Hi All
Well at last I have cracked it::: I found the insert button at the bottom of the mixer. This inserts a snapshot of the mixer settings pan vol etc into the events list at the current cursor track time position. So be careful to rewind to the start if you are setting your overall starting mix. After that you can insert new snapshots for other parts of the song later in time.
I can see why it was done this way to prevent you inserting volume changes made while playing by saving and forgetting to rewind the file to start.
Even so a warning would have been nice to say mixer values not saved as midi events unless you take a snapshot.. Hope this helps someone in the future
Mike
Here is a link to to the full thread might throw some light.
Mike Head, Just so we're on the page, making sure you're at the beginning, click Insert. This will simply insert a snapshot of the beginning volumes/pans into all of the tracks. It does no harm, but by doing this, the program knows the levels and pan positions to begin the song with when it's replayed or reopened. Then, though you record mixer moves along the way, the file will always re-open at those starting setting.
Unfortunately, this led to other odd behaviors on my end. I seem to get a lot of bugginess with RB despite a great and healthy PC. Manually editing the Event list after the Insert solved this. Thanks Mike, I was unaware of the Events concept.

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows® Today!
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows for free with build 1111!
With this update, there's more control when saving images from the Print Preview window, we've added defaults to the MultiPicker for sorting and font size, updated printing options, updated RealTracks and other content, and addressed user-reported issues with the StylePicker, MIDI Soloists, key signature changes, and more!
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
