https://soundcloud.com/lawrence-olivier/when-love-walks-through-the-door

When I started this song I had two things in mind. 1) I have two friends ask me why I write so many "suicidal" songs. So I had that in mind. 2) I had some failed lyrics I was working on with one good line "When love walks through the door". So I decided to go up tempo and from that line the song wrote itself. When I found the muted acoustic guitar (3059) it was all but done. I am so grateful for BIAB and this community.

When Love Walks Through The Door (10/19/2018)

When love walks through the door what you gonna do
When love walks through the door what you gonna do
You can rise up, you cry, you can run away and hide
When love walks through the door what you gonna do

Love ain’t always what you might expect
Love ain’t’ always what you might expect
You can embrace it with a smile you can jump back in denial
Love ain’t always what you might expect

Love is a reflection of yourself Love it don’t depend on no one else
When you look upon the water do you see a golden moon
When love walks through the door what you gonna do

Love comes from forgiveness born of joy
Love comes from forgiveness born of joy
We have all been double-crossed left confused and kinda lost
Remember love comes from forgiveness born of joy

Lawrence

You are on a great roll. Loved it. Superb vocal and some terrific songwriting.
Great sound - and that muted acoustic sounds great. Loved the dynamics - the percussion vocal part was inspired.

Wonderful.

HI Lawrence,

Man, I really like this! And yes, that muted acoustic is a great choice - a perfect fit for a perfect lyric. And what a vocal! I could write accolades about this terrific song endlessly. But I'll sum it up and say - "This is damned good!"

Alan

A great track Lawrence, a perfect use of RealTracks. I liked the groove and the 'up close' sounds; both a perfect match for the lyrics.

I enjoyed this.

A simple writing style throwback to years past, but done so well.

Nice pauses in there too.

One thing I would have done different..... in the section where it breaks down to drums and vox.... I might would have layed in a few other claps with some variations in the timing to make it sound like a larger crowd clapping along.

Great job

Very catchy upbeat sing along kind of song. Loved the question of the chorus, makes one think Hmmmm, what if. The pauses are nice points of reflection. Very different and interesting. Good job!!

What a jam! Love the soaring guitars on this. Really reminiscent of 70's rock to me. Not to mention, the vocals fit perfectly. The kind of tune I'd imagine sounding unreal in a live setting.

Good work, and thanks for sharing smile

Love that N'awlins gospel soul spice I hear in this song. Write, arranging, vocal and production sound great! Great job Lawrence. And it's always so cool when an orphan line becomes inspiration for a great new song.

What a great song! I really enjoyed listening to this.

I didn't really understand/like the part with the drums alone, but apart from that I truly enjoyed all of it.

You have a great voice and excellent skills in composing music.

Loved this. All the sweet breaks and changes kept this eternally fresh. Great voice, and a catchy and meaningful lyric.

Lawrence..I’m sure there is a technical term for the construction you are using, where the first lyric line is repeated exactly, but with a slightly different harmonic. Whatever it’s called, it’s really effective here, so great choice in architecture! Then your bridge is less staccato and more legato, so great offset. I guess I haven’t been keeping track of dark overtones of your prior work, but if you were trying to swing upbeat, you done good! Really liked this end to end. Great work!

Hi gruverider,

that's a very nice song, wow, very catchy. And I do love the almost audacious combination of RealTracks, adding that funky guitar was a brilliant idea. (To me the unlimited number of RT combinations aside from the regular styles are whaz make BB and RT so awesome).

And I realy dig the way you sing - no doubt your heart and your mouth get along like a house on fire. Well, well done !!!

Cheers,

Stefan

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
