Hey folks. Wanted to share this song sketch and express my gratitude for two dedicated members of this forum who helped me to shape it a bit. I believe they wanted to stay anonymous, so T & R Thank you!

I know that this tune needs a clean rewrite as I tried to fix some things already in the mid of the project.... like exporting BIAB tracks centered and "dry" for example. Now I know better smile

Time Is On Your Side

Me: Butcher style mixing + vocals.

Band:
464: Bass Acoustic, Bossa
470: Piano Acoustic, Rhythm Bossa
RealDrums: Bossa brushes
467: Guitar, electric , Rhythm Bossa
704: Flute, soloist Bossa
1595: Guitar , Acoustic, Fingerpicking
2293: Horn Section, Rhythm PopPads.

Lyrics:
In the fast lane where tides are moved by fashion
They scream out loud,
“You’re so fine, you’re so special.”
They’re radically increasing sugar doses,
They want you to believe
That sheep are smarter than their bosses.

Time is on your side, like the tongues of fire, oh so alive...

There’s an elder gentleman sitting in the park
Every day he sees the world is growing dark
Silhouettes are disappearing into the night
Like a ghost ship.

Time is on your side, like the tongues of fire, oh so alive...

There’s a homeless woman standing on the corner
And mysteriously smiling like Da Vinci's Mona
A few quarters are shinning like the stars
In her coffee cup.

Time is on your side, like the tongues of fire, oh so alive...

Hello,

This a really cool song! I really enjoyed my listen. I love the character of your vocal - full of life, fun and exciting. I can see this in a movie, given the appropriate scene.

I enjoyed it as is. There are other folks here who may have some technical advice for you that is beyond my knowledge. But, as I said - I really liked this a lot! The flute was a good choice - fits perfectly.

Best to you.

Alan

Hi Rustyspoon, This is quite excellent if I must say! The flute really adds a lot of interest to the piece. Solid progressions too. Well done!

Lots of flow, emotion and enthusiasm in that vocal.
Packed in a cool Latin song.

Really expressive and, like the lines suggests, so alive.
A dark tale with a big positive vibe to carry it.

Cheers

Good writing! Lots of great lines, I think my favorite is:

"There’s an elder gentleman sitting in the park
Every day he sees the world is growing dark
Silhouettes are disappearing into the night
Like a ghost ship."

Very expressive vocal. Love that Bossa rhythm too!

I liked this as is, except for the ending...I th8nk you should take it out in an instrumental fade..the groove is infectious, so I wouldn’t let it stop so suddenly, just let it run out for about 12 bars, maybe with some flute soloing. Your lyric choices are always so inventive, and I enjoyed the idea you were conveying. Thanks for sharing!

Hello fellows.
Thank you for awesome feedback!

Tano, special thanks for a healthy critique. I know, form is my weakness.
The problem is that whenever I get an idea, I rush into laying the tune out asap not thinking too much about the structure...just enough for the idea/message to be present. I have to make structure a habit smile

Best regards,
Misha.

Very nice piece of music! I didn't want it to end, so I a kind of agree with Tano Music, that an instrumental part in the end would have been even better.

Great work!
