Kenny,

This is inspired music creating from a master-craftsman!

I love everything about this. Your writing is incredibly strong. Using the metaphor of the junkyard Mustang, you've shaped a really wonderful lyrical journey and one that vividly paints the picture of a dented relationship that's seen better days. Underlying all this, though, is the hope that, with a bit of body work like the Mustang, the relationship can sparkle once again.

At the end of the song, I just sat here in my computer chair thinking... "Yeah... that's how really good writing works." You've given me something to aim for!

All the best,
Noel

Kenny,

Clever lyrics here—nice phrasing on the vocals that make it engaging. And a sweet chorus—love those first two lines; nice writing there. Lyrically, not sure those last two lines in the bridge work for me—if he can’t be fixed and she can’t be changed—but that’s a subjective thing; it may work just fine, so use or lose. Really strong tune, Kenny—enjoyed it!

All the best,

Deej

Hey Deej,

I wanted to get right to your post because it's interesting.
Those lines in the bridge didn't sit well with you and that's fine,
I thought they were the weakest lines in the song myself but I
can tell you my train of thought when writing them.
In a country style of song every line usually relates directly to
the title, in this case Truce.
A truce is an agreement to temporarily stop fighting, I'm sure
that you know this and in a relationship even when one party
says that it's over, the other party usually has trouble letting go
or accepting the inevitable truth.
The guy in the song is realizing his worst fears, that it's too late.
He hasn't accepted that it's over.
I can't fix me means he sees that his upbringing made him
into what he understands that a man is supposed to be. (and he doesn't wanna change)
I can't change you means that he knows that she's not
happy with everything about him or their relationship.
He's in a state of mind that this will blow over, it's just a
bump in the road of life and that a truce will buy him time
for this to work out and be OK.
Boy, if I sound like a dumbass, I apologize.
I don't mean to, I'm just telling you my point of view
in writing this.

btw, thanks for your kind words and taking time to express your thoughts

Kenny, what a great tune. The write is first rate. I think the chorus works fine. That’s the whole point of the song. Love the melody and feel. You are a master of those. The only nit I have is the vocal could be warmer without losing the grittiness. I definitely relate to your music. I would have been a good fit in your band. I also am a car guy so those opening lines resonated. Great one, Tom

Kenny,

Very nice and strong vocal as usual!
Your shouting singing style knocked me down.
Great production.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

You should be proud of this one - thanks for sharing smile

Man, what a GREAT idea for a write. The skills to turn a wreck into a show car dwarfed by what it takes to make a relationship work. You have a fertile "song mind."

What to say? If we heard this on a current Americana playlist we'd go back to see who it was and play it again and again.

Great band, write, vocal and mix. The is deserving of a wide audience.

Stronger than a garlic milkshake!

Thanks guys!

Stronger than a garlic milkshake - another great phrase from you Bud

like fried frog hair!!! I think that was a spellcheck moment that was inspired

I appreciate both of you very much!

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
