God will leave a light on Rock Ballad with a great message (IMHO!) from Chris and myself. This one was totally written by Chris, she basically sent me a piano/vocal demo and I built the backing track based on that. God will leave a light on (Christiane Spruit, 2018)V1)If God still leaves a light on through the dark and through the blue when we stand up together raise your voice to see us through with our voice of the silent with the force of all of you call in love against the violence raise in love all of you Chorus Reach out for the love and the light in all our souls raise against the dark and the doom Listen to the soul that is trying to get through to you singing all the songs of love that you have in you V2)In these days of separations in the howling of the storm we should all leave our lights on like the lighthouse on the shore set your sail to the island through the ocean of your doubt sail the boat against the violence raise in love and sing out loud Chorus PreChorus Part Chorus Alternative God will leave a light on as long as someone cares Carry on regardless without hate and without fear everyone within salvation giving a hand to everyone there is no pain in share and giving and no pain in love at all Chorus 2 Reach out for the love and the light in all our souls raise against the dark and the doom Listen to the soul that is trying to get through do you singing all the songs of love that you have in you The Band:RealTracks in style: 1592:Bass, Electric, Pop16ths Ev 065 RealTracks in song: ~367:Guitar, Electric, Background Dreamy Ev 065 RealTracks in song: 2558:Cello, Background SlowSwing Sw 065 I used EZDrummer2 to build the drum track Chris is playing the piano and also the pad that comes in during the last chorus This is not really a guitar song, but I did manage to sneak a couple of licks in there The song is also up on soundcloud (but sounds better on the reverbnation link at the top of the page) here: soundcloud link All comments welcome!

Dave (and Chris), really well-done, inspirational ballad. Dave, I think you did a great job creating a full-bodied track, and your modest guitar work supports and adds, doesn't take away, from Chris' vocal. Top-notch backing track...I liked that cymbal effect at the end! Great collaborative work!

Very appropriate instrumentation. I think you put in just the right amount of guitar to flavor the song. I especially like the marine imagery in the second verse. Overall, nice production.

What a tune! Love the vocal performance on this. It sounds huge, and is instantly memorable. That aside, I love the guitar work and the positive message is uplifting and sincere. Really great work here - thanks for sharing

Dave & Chris, Great vocal on uplifting lyrics. I enjoyed the production too- a big sound but with nice dynamics where you bring things down before the last chorus. Interesting to hear the track on those two platforms; you`re right, Reverbnation is the better quality.

I really like this song and the arrangement. However, to me, the mix was like two different songs where Chris' voice is concerned. Up until the big ending it was hard to hear and understand her both on my speakers and my headphones. I thought there was a lack of bottom in her voice or maybe a little too much compression. In the big ending it was like she was suddenly turned up (still a bit hard to understand the lyrics without reading them in places) but her voice was better mixed with the louder music. I hate to say anything derogatory about the mix but I would want to know if it was me. And if everyone else thinks it's fine then just disregard. I mean well.

Dave & Chris,
Really nice work. Excellent drum programming to fit the song using EZ Drummer. Very nice vocal and lyrics with nicely played piano and the synth at the end. Liked the guitar licks you threw in especially the first solo (excellent choice of notes). An excellent ballad.

Chris & Dave,
A good "Big Rock Ballad". The melody is especially nice - soaring.
The pieces all work well. Nice piano! Good drums (at times, I wanted them to "sound bigger", but I am not sure how that would be done - they have a good sound - it might be a reverb thing). Tasteful guitar (no surprise there!). The cello works well (doesn't it always?). The ending string pads were nice (though, again, I thought they "could have gone bigger").
Chris' vocal is strong (have come to expect that!).
After typing this all out, I am STILL hearing the song in my head - it has real staying power!!!
Nicely done.

An odd comment maybe, but I knew I was going to enjoy this just from looking at the wave-form. I wasn't disappointed. Great build and dynamic ebb and flow befitting the anthem quality of the lyric and vocals. Thoughtful production. Much enjoyed.

Vocal is always the star. Thanks for the listen and comments!

A good message, like Greg and floyd a lot of musicians
are thinking about uniting themes and healing messages.
A strong, inspired write
Reach out for the love and the light in all our souls raise against the dark and the doom Listen to the soul that is trying to get through do you singing all the songs of love that you have in you
those are great lines!
good mix,
enjoyed the listen,

HI Dave & Chris,
Powerful and well done! Chris never disappoints with her vocals and your perfect guitar touches are a true delight. Good message in the lyric. Love the out front placement on the kick drum - really adds a lot to the mix, which is perfect. Great job in all regards. That was a real pleasure to listen to! Best to both of you.

Robert Yes, WAV file uploaded to soundcloud, MP3 to reverbnation, but reverbnation has always sounded better to me. Thanks for the listen and comment, Robert!
