Hi everybody,

this is a tune I wrote back in 2008 and had the great honor and pleasure to re-record in 2017 with Daniela Erndwein as my duet partner, whom I had played with in one band so many years ago.

Irrespective of whether or not you like the song itself, I am pretty sure that you will at least enjoy the video, especially if you have a closer look at the details.

You Don't Have To Cry For Me

And these are the RealTracks I used (can’t trace wether they all belong to the same style or wether I just mixed single RealTracks (which is more likely):

DRUMS (RD Nashville 128)
BASS (RT 564)
ORGAN (RT 688)
GUITAR 1 (RT 565)
GUITAR 2 (RT 569)

TROMBONES: MIDI (RB piano roll) played with Big Fish Vintage Horns (via Kontakt 5)

I added some minor MIDI Bass and and a „real“ guitar back beat.

Played the solo on my Fender Strat Jeff Beck Signature using a very old smal Fender combo.

Like always Maha (who appears in the vid as „The Trombone Angels“) took care of the sound and the mix - what would I do without her...?

Would be very happy if you enjoyed listening and watching.

Take care,

Stefan

"Crossroads"...

I hardly know where to begin relating to you and Ms. Erndwein how I feel about "You Don't Have to Cry for Me". Good god almighty, was that ever some of the tastiest, slow-cooked, well-seasoned, finger-licking-good b-lu-u-u-ues that I have ever heard! I deliberately avoided watching the obviously well-produced video that accompanied the song, just so I could concentrate on listening to it.

"Crossroads", your vocal sounded as though you had just finished crying and wiped the tears from your face before you stepped up to the microphone. Ms. Erndwein, you sang like you were stroking the hair on your man's head as you held your beating heart out to him.

The electric guitar solo should have had lyrics. That's how expressive and emotionally exposed your playing was. The RealTracks really put some "hurt" into the music, too.

Folks, if you didn't live so far away from me here in the States, I'd invite you to perform at a party. Oh, yes, there'd be some 'amens' and some 'yes, yes, YES!' kind of testifying to the power of your music going on!

Applause, applause, applause, and then some more!

From the heart,

LOREN (a.k.a. "bluage")

P.S. Good trombone harmonizing! I use Big Fish Virtual Horns, too, but I never got them to sound like yours!

Hello Loren,

I just had your amazing comment printed out, blew it up to the max, framed it and hung it over my bed.

No, seriously, I have never had such nice and flattering words about my music before - they really blew my mind. And they mean even more to me now that I've heard the last song you shared here, which showed so much expertise, musicality and love for music.

And I know that Dani (who hasn't read your words yet, actally doesn't even know I posted our song here) will be as pleased as I am.

So, Loren, let me thank you very much; you did not only make my day - it looks like you've made my year !

All the best and thanks again,

Stefan

A very lovely production... I liked that "don't sit here" sign & was waiting for the cops or someone else to show up... All in all a good job.

Well that was a treat! Loved the video, especially the gag signs. An excellent bit of soloing on that JB Strat (Jeff being the Guvnor as far as I'm concerned...) I can see a lot of work has gone into this, and it's a very worthy end product. Well done!

John,

thank you very much for your kind words, I'm glad you enjoyed the project.

When I bought the JB Strat I was full of hope that some of the Guvnor's laugh expertise might come along with it. In vain - it wouldn't make rehearsing superfluous and it doesn't heal arthrosis in your fingers...

But what the heck - I like it.

Cheers,

Stefan

Speechless! That is over the top good. Humbling good.

The midi magic, the vocal performances and the guitar playing are all superb. The guitar reminds us a bit of Seth Walker.

The mix sounds perfecto on our monitors and the video? Wow, just too cool. Love those angels and the signs. It will take several watchings to soak all that in. There are enough subtleties in it for several productions! And did you ever nail the timing of everything....watching those horns is mesmerizing.

Regrets? Only that it's not also on soundcloud so we can add it to our fav playlist!

J&B

Edit: We just watched it again on the big screen and saw more signs and the lizard smile

Hi Stefan,

This is over-the-top fantastic. It's obviously a professionally done project that came out perfectly. Both of your voices are stellar and your guitar playing is so smooth. Nice! Fabulous video and the lyric is perfect for the music.

This shines in every manner a song can shine! I loved it from first note to last note. Standing ovation!

Stehapplaus!

Hi Stefan,

That was an incredible nice, good-sounding and fun experience! A true multimedia performance! I want one of those "fake trombone" lessons, please!

Both of you did a great work on the vocals - and I love the sound and the phrases you got out of that Fender.

You must be a great guy to hang out with as you always seem to be full of fun, imagination and visions!

Thanks for sharing,
Will

Hi Janice & Bud,

well, well, well, what a review - I'm completely over the moon - thank you sooooooo much !!!! I read your and the following comments just before I was going to bed, but I was so thrilled after reading that it took me hours to finally fall asleep.. But what a great reason that is for getting sleepless.

You know that I admire your songs very much and therefor your opinion counts double for me. Well, threefold, no, fourfold...

And the idea of beining part of your playlist is so tempting that I uploaded the song to Soundcloud this afternoon:

https://soundcloud.com/user-676951310/you-dont-have-to-cry-for-me.

I could test it once, but after that Soundcloud seems to have gone down, because I couldn't play any song since then.

I have to admit that I haven't upload there much tso far, but now that I'm busy in the forum and everbody uses it I will upload my songs there bit by bit, too.

Let me thank you once again for your terrific comments - I do appreciate them so much...

Lookning forward to your next song - all the best,

Stefan

Awesome. +100 to all the compliments above.

Fun song, hilarious video. Nice touches, especially flying the angels on trombones in and out of view.

A lot of work, and it shows.

Hi Stefan,

I was in a very small village called Einsiedlerhof, near Kaiserslautern four years, Pirmasens four years and Veitshoechhoem - near Wurzburg. I enjoyed my time there very much. I have forgotten so much of the language over the years. I left in 1988.

Again, your song and video are simply "wunderbar!"

If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
