So.... in another post here.... I mentioned there were some stories.

Here's one.

At a hole in the wall bar out in the middle of nowhere in NC.... essentially a biker bar.... we had a gig. We were cautioned to respect the patrons and their ladies and the owner pointed to some bullet holes in the wall behind the band..... said that someone in a band a few weeks back had said something about one of the ladies and the biker didn't like it, so he rode his Harley into the bar and started shooting at the band before his buddies stopped him. No arrests were made.

OK...so that's not the story, but just a set up as to the type of place it was.

We're in the middle of the second set, in a song when these two law enforcement officers come to the stage flagging the band to stop playing. Fully uniformed, and looking upset... so we stop. One of them says, who's the leader of the band? I say, that would be me. He says OK... put your instruments down and accompany me outside. So the whole band walks outside as does the crew, to see what the problem is.

He says to me, you're under arrest. I say what for? He says open container. I say I don't have an open container and I'm not even drinking. He says let me show you and proceeds to point into our band truck where there's a bottle of Jack Daniels setting on the center console with obviously some missing..... oooops... yep, open container in NC. So I say, it's not mine and I drove in my own vehicle to this job.

Perturbed...but not to lose an arrest.... he says OK... so who owns the truck? Glenn says I do. He says, OK YOU'RE under arrest. Glenn says I rode up with him, pointing at me and I don't drink at all.

Now, the officer is really starting to get mad and just cuts to the chase. He says, OK.... who owns the bottle. Dave our sound guy says well sir, that would be my bottle. And Dave promptly gets arrested. It was actually the drummer's bottle but Dave took one for the team. We ended up finishing the gig and got our pay.....

I ended up having to go bail him out of the jail and carry him home. I think the sun was up before I finally got home.

New band rule..... keep all illegal substances and liquids out of sight at all times in the band and personal vehicles.

Lets hear a few good road tales.... I have more but I'll add them later. They also involve alcohol and law enforcement

Great story, not sure if I heard you tell it before, but it’s still good fun to listen to even if you did.

There was another one about one of the band members gf and the real wives turning up....I think?

Good one too, these stories are worth listening to.. and even repeating.

Yeah.... that was funny after it was over.... I was new to the band at that time and didn't have a GF. So on the breaks I was outside getting some fresh air. It was a smokey dive at the beach. Setting there, and the real wives and GF showed up.... meanwhile the boys are inside with their "other" GF's.... Real wives walk in and stay in the back watching. GF's decide to go to the bathroom and the drummer's wife follows her in. Inside, wifey comments that she would "sure like to take that hunk of a drummer home" . GF, not realizing who was talking to her says.... Oh... he's taken, he's mine.... and wife says, well he's my husband you ho.... and punches the GF right in the face...

Fight spills out into the bar, bouncers are on it and owner gives the boys in the band the choice.... who do you want me to throw out? The guys tell him to chunk their wives out the door. (I kid you not) I had walked in and saw the big circle arguing and decided to avoid it.

We finish the gig and I head home. A little bit later, the bass player shows up wanting to sleep on my couch.... all his clothes were outside when he got home.

Welcome to the band..... Yeah... crazy times.

Steve, I played a few gigs like that. Only remember one place that had chicken wire up though.

One gig we played was a military enlisted club. They could get pretty rowdy.... So obviously no one danced because it;s all guys. The only female is the bartender. But in the first set they started throwing their empty beer cans at the stage. By the end of the first set, the dance floor had a bunch of beer cans and we were pretty bummed that they didn't like us. Heck we played rock and roll and country and everything we played got more beer cans tossed at us.

On the break, we were pretty bummed trying to think of what we could do to salvage the gig. A Marine who had come out back with us overheard what we were saying. He says, I guess you guys haven't played out here much huh? We said no....and it's probably the last since they seem to hate us. He says what do you mean? Well, we say, they're throwing beer cans at us.... we must be pretty bad. He starts laughing... heck no, (that's not exactly how he said it) the more beer cans they throw the better they like you. We measure the good bands in trash barrels filled at the end of the night. He says I recon you guys to be at least a 3 to 4 barrel band.

We went back in with a much improved attitude knowing they liked the band. By the end of the night.... one table had stacked their cans and another Marine took issue that they weren't tossing them at us and went over and knocked the huge pile of cans down and onto the dance floor... almost a fight.... but they resolved it. At the end of the night the club manager said... man I hate the good bands as he picked up over 6 trash barrels ( the big ones) full of beer cans from the floor.

lol, another good one, must be a few places you could have got a booking, and for some reason band didn't take it, then something happened at the place, and you thought thank God I didn't play there!

I wish Eddie (Eastside Eddie) would chip in on this thread, bet he has a good few tales to tell.

Cone in Eddie?

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
