I want to know FOR SURE whether the plugin works with Reason. The answer will inform my decision whether to buy 2019.

“I don’t know why it shouldn’t” is not an acceptable answer.

Have emailed Support but am impatient. (Also tried Chat midday, but got no response.)

Cheers, y’all!

Reasonable question. I don't recall this DAW being mentioned by anyone in testing.

I've not noticed Reason being discussed in the forums since the VST plugin came out.

Also, the definition of "works" may be different for you than it is for me or PGM. I got it to kinda work with Reaper but it still crashes sometimes. Sound never plays within the VST; I have to drag tracks from there into my DAW in a one-way operation in order to hear them. I cannot get multiriff feature to work at all. And it took 3:56 to generate a loaded BIAB song that would generate to separate WAV files in only 30 seconds from within BIAB. Then I found it ignores frozen setting in a BIAB file so doing that doesn't help with regeneration time. If you load a BIAB file you must regenerate the whole thing.

For me, this is definitely not working yet.

I went to download Reason to try it but it is 3.6GB so in an hour and a half I'll try it.
But you don't have to have it "in" the DAW as how the plugin is at the moment it don't send audio or play in sync so it defeats the purpose of a VST, so you can run it as a standalone with SaviHost but that is much the same as using Biab.

Yes, the plugin works with Reason. We tested it (Reason 10) and it worked fine.
Its the VST2 becuase Reason doesn't support VST3 as far as we know.
We are releasing DAW specific videos next week, because each of them have their own 'switches' to enable plug-ins and such. Then you'll be able to see it in action with Reason (for example), and pick up any tips on using it.

Have Fun!

It should also work as a ReWire slave for RealBand with the ReWireVST.

Stephan,

Are you using the lastest version or Reason,(10.2.2d1) and have you been able to fix the crashes since your earlier post?

Not working here in Reason 10.2.2d1.

In fact it's not working Studio One 4 either.

It (sometimes) shows up and I can play style demos, load files etc. rendering though it starts drawing a progress bar and gives up after a few seconds without any message as to why.

I've tried two different audio cardss with the same results. No joy.

Thanks.

I'm a long time BIAB

I've always run BIAB with the MME driver using a Roland Quad capture because the BIAB ASIO option has always been problematic for me.

I even unplugged the Roland and used the onboard Audio, same problem. I've spent hours trying to figure this out with no joy.

I run Sonar 8.5, Studio One 4 and Reason without issues, this isn't a driver issue, it's two different and current audio setups that work swell with everything else, bar BIAB and its plugin.

@PeterGannon, Would you mind testing again with the latest patches for both Reason 10 and Band-in-a-Box 2019? Multi Riff no longer seems to work. After selecting a sololist real-track and hitting "close", the additional 7 tracks don't appear in the VST plugin window. Thus you can't generate the Multi Riffs.

Multi Riff worked until I applied the latest Biab 2019 patch. It's also possible that I updated Reason 10 with a patch as well. Thus, Multi Riff worked originally, then stopped working after patches (definitely patched biab, may have for Reason 10). Anyway, I'm hoping you'll be able to reproduce and help identify a solution. It's a great feature and I miss it. Since Real-Band has the Multi Riff feature, I been using it in the meantime to create Multi Riffs. I save the audio files then important them into Reason 10. This does work, but the work-flow is more complicated. Having the feature working again in the VST is convenient. Thank you!!

I was on the verge of ordering and saw this. As this is a make-or-break feature for me, I will be watching raptly for an answer.

I download Reason 10.2.2d1, loaded the BBvst. loaded a song, hit generate, and dragged the blue square and all the tracks loaded in.
The other issues are being fixed as we type.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
