When It Comes To You
© 2019 Kenny Leverett

Down on the shoreline drive
There’s a cool breeze off the water
Watching a beautiful day
Slowly fading away

Haven’t been here in ages
Thought it was too much bother
Reliving a past
Accepting that nothing lasts

But when it comes to you
It’s a no can do
Who would’ve thought I’d be the one
Who couldn’t move on
When it comes to you

So many familiar places
Flashbacks of moments gone by
In a younger time
Hiding inside my mind

I still see you at twenty
Part woman part bright eyed girl
Looking in my direction
And offering the world

But when it comes to you
It’s a no can do
Who would’ve thought I’d be the one
Who couldn’t move on
When it comes to you

But when it comes to you
It’s a no can do
Never thought I’d be the one
Who couldn’t move on
When it comes to you

Hi Kenny,

the more songs of yours I get to listen to the more I like them (liked them from the start anyway !!!) This again is a great tune; in the beginning I was reminded on Tom Petty and Dylan (or a blend of their voices...) like they sang with the Travelling Wilburys (which I still like a lot), but, no: It's Kenny, and your singing is definitely second to non.

Liked it a lot !!!

Take care,

Stefan

Super songwriting.
Your melodies are always so "sing-able". SO good.
Your lyrics are comfortable, yet fresh - a complexity to their simplicity... conversational (as lyrics should be) and meaningful. You write I-know-that-feeling! kinds of lyrics - nothing "contrived"...
Amazingly good.

I loved this.

I can't say it any better. You always nail it!! You songs are emotional, powerful, memorable, singable, and no one could do them like you!! AWESOME!! Take care. Greg

My comments for the next few days will have to be brief as my wife just returned home from the hospital (twice since Christmas) and needs lots of attention. I apologize for the brevity but it's necessary. Thanks for understanding!

Kenny,

There's never a disappointment with anything you post. Great song and delivery - you remind me a bit of Rod Stewart with just a touch more grit. Excellent ... your music is always so easy to listen to - pro all the way. Best to you ...

Four short lines that pack a ton of emotion...

You distill writes down to the "all that's needed"...never anything less or more. And to do that you gotta have something to say as you always do.

Back before his disco years there was a Rod Stewart that we listened to a lot and still do -- his first two albums after leaving Faces are masterpieces in our book.
This tune, like many of yours, would for us sit perfectly in that playlist. The comparo is not based simply on your voice but rather on the whole package of sounds that he captured on those two albums (Gasoline Alley and Every Picture Tells A Story). It's like we're being treated to newly discovered cuts from them. Yeah!

But then Son Volt comes to mind also. It’s all good!

GREAT!!!

J&B

Thanks guys!

I absolutely love those Rod Stewart records, what happened to that guy?

I heard he was playing soccer or something

thanks for all the kind words

Yeah, Floyd pretty much nailed it with his comments I think.

As good as it gets, and one of your best vocals ever.

Loved it!

Thanks Dave,

you're a gentleman and scholarly type

and one heck of a fine blues guitarist

Yeah , this one has a 70's soft rock feel to it, great job on the vocals Kenny, and your chord progression seems to slide into place with subtle changes. Love it!!! Cliff

Sounds great man. Sorry I can't be more loquacious. I am listening to everything but these next six months are mad crazy with my work, so I will just have to listen and say I love it.

Please bear with me during this time.

Great will mean great. I am listening.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
