In SampleTank 3 you could access its MIDI learn function and control its volume and pan function through the previous versions of RealBand
I can't figure how to do this using SampleTank 4 (ST 4) and RB 2019. It works in Cakewalk and Reaper by right clicking the Pan and volume controls in ST4 and then clicking "MIDI Learn". In other words, you can assign control of ST4's vol and pan to Cakewalk or Reaper controls.
In RB 2019 right clicking the pan or volume controls in SampleTank 4 briefly flashing up the MIDI learn function but it immediately disappears.
I realize that RB is 32 bit and SampleTank 3 and 4 are 64 bit. I'm using jBridge and it works with ST 3 but not ST 4.
Are there some configurations in jBridge that need to be made for it work in RB?
Or has something changed in RB 2019?

Or has something changed in RB 2019? Before anyone can answer the last question we'd need to know if ST4 worked in a previous version of RB. Otherwise it could be possible that something changed in ST4 (and not in RB). In that case it could be that nothing changed in RB, but the change in ST4 is causing RB to balk.. and one of the two needs to be adjusted to compensate. The fact that it works in Sonar doesn't mean anything changed in RB. A change anywhere in the chain could cause this, including ST4, so further testing/info may help solve it.

OK
1. ST4 is 64 bit only 2. ST4 LEARN works in 64-bit BIAB 3. ST 4 LEARN TRIES to show up in 32-bit BIAB (if you right click on a ST 4 control like volume slider you can see it blinking into and out of "existence") 4. ST4 behavior in Realband, remember RB is ONLY 32-bit, behaves exactly the same as it does in 32-bit BIAB
there is clearly an issue between the 32-bit app (BIAB and RB) using JBridge and communication with 64 bit ST4's. May or may not be JBridge communications issue. May or may not be ST4 GUI inside a 32 BIT app,. or ???
EDIT
probably more on ST4 side since ST3 learn works but the WAY you do it is different in ST3 than in ST4. IN ST3 you COMMAND it to Learn, then select thing to be controlled via Learn, then in controlling DAW move the thing you want ST3 to learn about
in ST 4 you RIGHT CLICK on thing you want to have listen to be controlled via external DAW (i.e., Learn) and it's that right menu that's trying but not working
End Edit
Needs reported to BOTH IK MM and PG music!

Have had conversations with jBridge developer Joao Fernandes...a great guy by the way.
This issue can be resolved by accessing the jBridge app and setting jBridge up to run in "separated GUI mode" option. Then restart Realband and then go back into the SampleTank VSTi. There will be a pop-up that says you are running in a separate GUI mode for SampleTank 4. Check the box in this notice to have SampleTank "always on top".
SampleTank will then run as a stand alone app outside of RealBand and you will have access to the "Learn" function in SampleTank 4. RealBand can then control the Volume and Pan of SampleTank 4.

yes - you can do that with JBridge actually you can do that with JBridge for any stubborn 64-bit app you want to use in 32-bit RealBand but it doesn't solve the basic issue of "why" and "what," if anything, IK or PG is willing, or even can, do to correct it.
I can see where IK position might end up being "ST4 is a 64-bit plugin we expect it to be used in 64-bit HOST or use the standalone ST4 we supplied."
BTW that is another perfectly fine workaround: simply run the standalone Sampletank 4 and patch it in via the various virtual MIDI patch methods (Pipeline has demonstrated/explained in multiple posts here do a search) - it's a little more complicated and you need to understand how the MIDI data flows to use that method effectively without causing yourself frustration.
Frankly, PG can't really be expected to do much, other than to release a 64-bit Realband, because Realband is currently a 32-bit; therefore, RB's "handshakes" (comm) with 64-bit ST4 are just incomplete or incompatible even via JBridge.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
