Hey All,

I have a problem. With Real Band 2019 I cannot use registered Ik Multimedia plugins without getting white noise as if they were in demo (unregistered) mode though I have no problem in Cakewalk.

From 2014 on through 2018, I found a work around: insert an IK Multimedia plugin on an empty track and it "tricked" something (but I don't know what) so that white noise did not occur. Why this worked I have no idea. I called IK Multimedia and they said "Never heard of Real Band. Have no idea. What's that? Sorry. Can't help you there buddy! Tried Pro Tools?"

Now, in 2019, no trick works. The plugins are not being viewed as registered IK Multimedia plugins in Real Band. Support doesn't seem to know why and the question has been referred to programming. I won't spend days on this since I have Cakewalk, but just thought I would ask if anyone has had the same issue, and I was overlooking something obvious.

The plugins are 64 bit, and I have J bridge, though I assume J bridge is just ignored if you don't need it.

Thanks for any insights!

smile

So just to be clear, the noise you are talking about is a short burst of static that consistently happens every 10 seconds or so, and it doesn't affect timing? What is a VST plugin that it happens with and what is the version of the plugin displayed in the plugin's user interface?

Andrew,

Yes, burst of static. It is a 64 bit of the earlier IK stuff which is VST. I am not sure if Real Band supports VST3 but it would not recognize anything in a VST3 folder, only VST, that is why I tried this.

See screenshot.

Have you tried to select the new Windows Audio Drivers?
I remember I had to do that to solve some white noise issues, in recording

Hey Stratos,

No I am not installing any new drivers because everything is working perfectly with everything else and I don't want to tempt fate.

All works fine in Cakewalk. I use RB to generate tracks mostly so it is not life and death.

The only thing I have EVER had a problem with in Real Band is IK Multimedia plugins and have never had any issues with other DAWs.

Cakewalk scans for VSTs, and if you open a nonregistered VST it will tell you so. In Real Band, there is no scanning, there is a manual "add." It does not indicate that the VST is in trial mode, but if you mix down you get white noise. Only with IK Multimedia and only in Real Band. Been an issue since 2014 for me though I could find a workaround with a blank track insert until now.

One more question, does it happen in Band-in-a-Box (64-bit)? (With the same plugin)

You need to get Amplitube 4 then all your plugs show IK plugs show there then you have to use jbridge.

John,

I do have Amplitube 4 and all works perfectly in Cakewalk, and as Andrew's test showed, they work in BIAB with no white noise, just Real Band is the only issue. It has always been a problem with Real Band, nothing else.

Also, I guess Real Band does not recognize VST3, because when I click "edit VSTi" and go to folders, it will recognize a .dll but not a VST3.

Thanks!

David,

VST3's are 64 bit and will not work with RealBand since it is a 32 bit application.

I've read that VST3's do not work with jBridge but I've never confirmed that statement and do not know of a reason why it they should not.

I did read however that some host applications that can work with 64 bit VSTs do not accept VST3s.

If nothing else, this discussion helped me solve a similar issue I was having with BIAB pulling in a demo version of a VSTi I was trying to use. Turns out I had both the demo and the paid version dlls in my plugin folder.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
