Hello forumites....

Finally finished up an older one recently and thought I'd throw it on the forum wall for any peer to peer mix comments.

It's called "Ive Had A Good Life"

I did all tracks except for:
Lead/rhythm guitar - generously done by Ken Lasaine in So. California
Horns: generously done by Ken's studio cat buddies.

First song on the list:

Lyrics:

Thanks to any that give a listen or comment and hope you found it worthy of your time.

A good day to all....

Howdy Bob....

A sincere thanks for taking the time to give a listen and kind words.
I was pleased with the outcome but, to me, it's the assessments by one's peers that are the most valid opinions and help us improve on our song writing efforts.

(You been busy gigging weed hopper? :))

Thanks again and Feliz Viernes to all....

Howdy Herb....

I thank you for taking the time to listen.

It's always appreciated when any of our peers are willing to listen and comment favorably.
Along with this site: https://www.tdpri.com/forums/ ....this is the only other forum where I may throw my efforts against the wall for their thoughts.
As far as posting originals....I truly have to convince myself to just do it as others confidently do.

(EDIT: BTW...have you put up any pics of your newly completed studio? Did I miss your studio pics post/update?)

Thanks again....a good weekend to all.

Weed hopper? Haha. Yes, I did five gigs in a row July 3-7th on Catalina, came back on the 8th then did two more this past weekend. I haven't gigged this frequently since the 80's. It was fun but for this old man, that's enough for a while. I don't have anything on the schedule but something will come up, it always does.

Hey Bob....

Chuckle....you're just going to have to deal with being in high demand in the 21st century.
Maybe you need a roadie to "schlep" those keys around for you.

In truth....you know what I've stated previously.
"no drug in the world better than playing live to a receptive audience"
Glad to hear you're still truckin' along and remain connected to the live scene.

Have a great weekend....

Wayne,

Nice sounding tune. It is well sung, played and I like the arrangement. The one thing I would change is I would raise the level of the horns and reduce the level of the left channel guitar so the left and right channel balance would match better.

I listened to some of your other songs. Time Travellin' is a neat song. I like the effect (gate?) on the drum and the interplay between all the guitar tracks.

Howdy Jim....

Thank you kindly for giving a listen and commenting favorably.

To be honest....I liked those damned horns so much I worried myself.
I was very concerned that I'd get a bit too enthusiastic in the db department.
If you say it would be good to re-visit that balance factor it's an easy fix.
Probably 1db (for each) appropriate.

"Time Travelin" I had fun writing that one and I felt the imagery was there.
My personal propensity is in the lyric/coherent story focus and my music (chords/arrangements)is never difficult.
Yes...there was some gating but I forget where?...duh.
My buddy did lead axe/bass tracks...I did rhythm guitar/keys/vocals/harmonies.

I had all the Alesis Micro series 1/3 rack space devices in that recording era.
This one was recorded back in 1994 (Teac A3440S/Fostex Model 80) and I used the Kawai R-100 drum machine so I've threatened to do it over again....it currently remains on the creative back burner.

Thanks again Jim for checking it out.....and the other tunes.
A good evening to all.

Wayne,
Really cool funky tune! My second favorite after "You're Looking For A World" Excellent instrumentals and mix. Vocals situated perfectly in this. (I still think you can up them in You're Looking For A World smile )
Wayne, great work on this!
Thank you for sharing.

Howdy Misha....

I'm honored you found it worthy of the listen and the kinds words.
I was pleased with the end result.
But, it's always a good idea to receive candid comments from one's peers and find out if they would agree. smile

"You're....."
I still didn't get the vocals up enough in the "_remix" version?
I'm a failure...,I haven't listened to it for a while but will keep my mind open to revisiting. smile

Thanks again....a good day to all.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
