Once again I have used the awesome BIB to compose and tweak and then I rendered into Studio One. I kept the Dobro and acoustic guitar tracks and fleshed out with live and VSTi's. Any comments on the mix would be most appreciated, the lyrics are 99% done and I like this mix best.

Nicely done, Rickey! Love the upbeat groove, and the chord progressions are on point. I thought you did a great job on the mix too. It sounds professional and concise. It has a really nice modern feel to it.

Thanks for sharing smile

Thanks for the feedback. The Groove tempo is right out of BIB, I just used different drums.I have become so comfortable composing in BIB that I can't even imagine doing it any other way.

Very well constructed. It felt "right" structurally and the progression is solid. I like the band--very upbeat with sweet drums and leads. Definitely "lyric-ready". Best wishes.

As per the mix. To my ears, the leads seemed a little hot in the overall mix. The final "master" may also be going for more loudness than is required. I'm not the mix-master, but I think you could lower the guitar and piano a bit and get a better blend.

This gallops along nicely - what are the "live" instruments?

The "live" tracks are Organ, Bass, Lead Guitar, Crunch Guitar and Synth. VSTi's are drums and Piano and BIB provides Rhythm Guitar and Dobro. The Rhythm guitar provided most of the "glue" for the song and composition structure. I really had to try and not add some COWBELL !!!!LOL

Rick,
Good rocking backtrack for a song in progress ( with an interesting title).
You don`t credit the live performers- all you?
Look forward to the vocals.

All me...learning more everyday. I grew up on guitar, fell madly in love with the bass and my mother made me take a couple of piano lessons back in Jersey so I can dabble here and there. Glad you liked it, that means a lot.

Rick, nice tune that should work great behind a good vocal. Interesting choice of instruments, especially the drums! They all seem to mesh together in a cohesive unit! Thanks, Torrey

Hi Rick,

This sounds great!!!

I love the chord progression that you've used and your choice of instruments is super.

As I'm sitting here listening, the thought passed through my mind that I'd like to hear the bass 1 - 2 dB louder and to compare it to this version and see what the difference sounds like.

I enjoyed the journey!
Noel

Rick, you've made exceptional use of the talented musicians in your arsenal.

This could just as easily be Floyd Cramer. Great delivery start to finish.

Sounds excellent. smile

Of course, that mix balance goes out the window once the vocals are added. wink

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
