Hi ROG,
What a really, really great listen! I'm in awe of your orchestration.
In all the years that I've been listening to your work, never once have you disappointed! I love the this. No one writes songs anymore about how to play a game or steps to dance and I found it really refreshing to sit here and listen to you work this technique to its very best.
Terrific stuff!
All the best, Noel

Really fun, and REALLY well done!! The tracks all sound great....live and energetic! The vocal harmonies have kind of a Beatles sound (always a plus in my book)! Really like this ROG!!! Take care. Greg

Nothing wrong with frivolous in my book, that was a fun listen! Not going to be trying that dance however Great groove happening, and I like the fx you used on the vocal too, very effective. Good one, Rog! Thanks, Dave. Pleased that you found it fun - that's exactly what I was hoping for. Probably a good move not trying the dance though! Fun song. Enjoyed the listen. Hi Mark, many thanks. Glad you enjoyed it. 'ROG'... I really dig the 60-ish (???) sound and Beach Boy-ish harmonies. Learning new dances (from one of my sisters and her girlfriends, usually) was one of the most exciting and anxiously anticipated social activites that I remember particpating in as a kid back then. In fact, I'm gonna send her the link to your song. I assure you she'll try out the moves you described in your upbeat lyrics !!! - bluage - Hi Bluage. Loved the story about learning the dances and I hope your sister gives it a try. We've all had a go in our family, right down to our nine-year-old granddaughter, who was easily the best! Many thanks for the review.

"in the pocket" as J&B said- everything fits the period and the dancing-fun purpose. Those horn RT`s don`t get heard too often around here and they sure like your song!

This puts me back to the crazy 60s sound we all loved and ahem Psst still listen to....hockey pokey etc.
Great sound on the overall mix. Hi Beatmaster. Many thanks for the listen and review. Rog
That was pure fun. Great sounds, loved the horns and clever lyric.
Very entertaining.
Peter Hi Peter. Always appreciate a review from you - many thanks for looking in. ROG, I think frivolous is the only way to go, it loosens up tension spots in the brain. Don't let this mood to escape Artful soundscape and vocal treatment. Cool tune, put a smile on my face. Thank you for sharing! Misha. Hi Misha. Glad you approve of frivolous! Thanks for all the kind comments and pleased that it made you smile. Cheers, ROG.

But you keep your socks on So you slide around moreGenius! Is that chorusing I'm hearing on the vocals? Fun song, solid work as usual. Thanks for being frivolous! Hi David. Always pleased to get your opinion and many thanks for the nice comments. The effect on the vocals is similar to stereo chorus, but uses just pitch shifting, as opposed to chorus which uses pitch and time modulation. It's done with the Eventide Ultra Harmoniser plugin - if you only have one expensive plugin, then that is the one to have in my humble opinion. A lot of my plugins are free ones, but I used to have a hardware 949 Harmoniser back in the day, which I loved, so I saved up and took the plunge on the Eventide plugin. Never regretted it! Thanks again, ROG.

ROG, Very fun! And very well done. A good "dance beat". The horns are really well done. Mix sounds great. Cool (appropriate) vocals. Only thing missing is of video of you showing us how The Slide is done... fj Hi Floyd, Thanks for the review and all the positives. I love all the horn RTs. I tend to work in Realband rather than BiaB, so I just hunt through the RTs list and quite often mix lots of different styles - if it sounds right I use it! The video? I'm on it. Many thanks, ROG.

That's a fun tune. Often it's the frivolous and just-for-fun things that end up being the best, because we're not under pressure to to something marvelous.
Loved the harmony vocals and the horns... very cool 60's vibe to this.
My only nit is that the vocals can stand to come up a bit in the mix. They get lost to the music in a few places.
Great job on this project. HI Herb. You're absolutely right about the pressure - sometimes it's good to just let loose on a project without worrying about the end product. Many thanks for the review and I'll take another look at the level of the vox. Funny dance tune, I agree with a previous comment - video would be nice to learn the Slide It is difficult to keep socks on, when this song rocks them off Strong straight rock'n'roll rhythm, reminds me of Status Quo. Enjoyable harmonies and cool horns. Janne Many thanks Janne. Glad you liked it and yes, I'm gonna have to look at doing the video! Cheers, ROG.

Frivolous song? You? LOL!!! I for one, LOVE your frivolous fun side. I thought I was one of the few who knew "the slide". The kitchen would get a good covering of paste wax and then all us kids would put on our socks and be human buffers having a grand time doing the slide.
What a great sounding track and fun song. Love it! Josie, great to hear from you! Glad you approve of my bit of frivolity. Loved the image of all you kids polishing the floor with the fore-runner of The Slide. Many thanks for that and for the listen and review. Cheers, ROG.

ROG,
Great sound to this—really pulls you in and gets the toes tapping. I think you need to throw together a video tutorial on that dance, lol. Fun 60 sound, with a hint of ELO to my ears. Love the instrumentals here. Well done!
All the best,
Deej Hi Deej. Yes, by popular request I'm looking at a video! Glad you liked the song and many thanks for the review. ROG,
Wow, this is good! I always enjoy your work. Some really interesting turns in this one. Mix sounds really nice. I love Harrison Mixbus 32C. I've used it quite a bit for mixing. Not so much for tracking (usually go with Logic Pro X or Studio One 4 for tracking). But I don't know anything better for in the box mixing.
Really enjoyed this one!
Steve
Hi Steve. Thanks for the review and the kind comments. For years I mixed in Powertracks, but these days I use Mixbus32C more and more. Although I can patch effects into a channel in Powertracks, I like the immediacy of having EQ and dynamics on every channel. It also allows me to use my 64bit effects which don't seem to want to work with j-bridge in 32bit applications. Plus, it works like the old large-format mixers which I used back in the day. Wow, that must be the return of what they called 'The British Invasion' in the Sixties, and it's coming, no: sliding round the corner with that British sense of humor everybody is fond of.
Great fun all the way and a rhythm that - regardless of the warning - forced me to give The Slide a try.
Greetings from the plaster room of our local hospital- groaning but happy,
Stefan Hi Stefan. Pleased it found favour with you - your review certainly raised a smile here. Many thsnks for looking in. Cheers, ROG.

Very cool! Fun fun fun...would also love to see the video Many thanks Joanne. Yes, I'm working on the video! Hi ROG,
You can hear a prof has made this song. It's as smooth as the dance you're singing about. I have tried that dance (very short), felt my back cracking and read you were not responsible for the damage. So I quit. But this is a very nice song. Nothing I can whine about... well, my back.
Hans Hi Hans. Thanks for looking in and the nice comments. I had to watch out for my back as well! What a tune! I enjoyed my listen - what a fun and inventive tune Nothing wrong with being frivolous sometimes. I loved your harmonies, and thought the sax solo was a perfect addition. And as I'm sure you know, this tune is incredibly catchy. I wouldn't bat an eyelash if I heard this on the radio. You should be proud of this one - thanks for sharing! Hi Deryk. Hey, that's very kind of you. The sax RTs are probably my favourites - many thanks to PG for that. Thanks for the review. Cheers, ROG

Janice, who dances around the house frequently, said she'd been doing the slide and didn't even know it We saw a Tom Petty video concert many years ago and he had a horn section called the Soul Lips. Where'd you find those guys? This sounds like The Traveling Wilburys got teleported back to the early 60's! No need to parse this production out...your vocal and instrumental performances, the horns, the cool write and the tight mix are all in the pocket. You have a real knack for getting loud mixes that never lose anything and, actually, gain in presence. One word: FUN!J&B Hi J&B. You know I always value your input and I'm really pleased you approved of this offering. Maybe I'll give Janice a shout when I'm doing the video! Many thanks for the review, you guys - I had lots of fun putting this together, so I'm glad you got some fun out of it too. Cheers, ROG.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
