Bad Men
Bad men seem to prosper
Far too often for my liking
A little frontier justice
Sometimes seems far too inviting
Like to drop a bomb on all those chumps
Wipe them out with one almighty thump
But that would make me just as bad as them
Oh it’s really quite a quandary that I’m in

Bad men seem to prosper
And there’s not much we can do
They don’t play by the same rules
That apply to me and you
Look at Vladimir without his shirt
You won’t see him get his just deserts
He’ll die in bed surrounded by his family
His obituary will say he was so manly

Bad men seem to prosper
That’s just the way it is
I guess that’s why we dreamed up the devil
And the seven deadly sins
At least they’ll get what’s coming when they’re dead
Wish that it would happen here instead
If once or twice an evil scheme could fail
And the villains end up languishing in gaol

Bad men seem to prosper
Far too often for my liking
A little frontier justice
Sometimes seems far too inviting
Like to drop a bomb on all those creeps
Bury all their bodies nice and deep
But that would make me just as bad as them
Oh it’s really quite a quandary that I’m in
Yes, that would make me just as bad as them
It’s really quite a quandary that I’m in

Leon's voice reminds me of Rod McKuen.
The vocal track could use a tiny bit of sibilant management - less on the esses and more on the tch etc bits.
The organ sounds great over on the side.
Those tidy guitar licks are great and they lead to a cool solo.
Nice one!

Cheers

Hi Peter and Leon,

great idea to start the year with a tune like this !!!

Leon: This is proof that you're a very angry (young? old?) man, too. Great, great lyrics.

And a good flowing, well-sung tune anyway. Love the parts when Peter falls in.

And, Peter, brilliant guitar stuff again (but who would expect anything else...).

Love the thing AN AWFUL LOT !!!

All the best for 2020,

Stefan

This is the first song of the new year for me.

Love the lyrics, very thought provoking. Great work on the guitar too, that outro solo especially was cooking.

Nice way to kick off 2020 Peter and Leon!

Hi Peter,

You and Leon are definitely a songwriting force! The two of you keep on turning out quality production after quality production. "Bad Men" sits alongside all the terrific listening music that you've created to date.

I enjoyed listening.

Regards,
Noel

A great rockin' tune. Great lyrics too. I really like the organ, and the guitar and the guitar solo really bring it together.

I enjoyed the listen - great lyrics, and nice harmonies.

... and the spelling of gaol, it forced to finally look it up. smile

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

HA!

A good lyric throughout.

Cool opening.

A big sound throughout. (I am not a fan of the drums with the constant open hi-hat - but I know that is a personal preference) The outro guitar is sweet! (the drums under that are good (no open hi-hat) - smile ). Cool organ!

A rousing beginning to 2020. Look forward to many wonderful offerings from from Peter & Leon!!

Peter & Leon,
Firstly-that`s a killer outro! Great guitar work thoughout.
An excellent lyric that`s fun in a biting way- my favourite swipe:

"Look at Vladimir without his shirt
You won’t see him get his just deserts
He’ll die in bed surrounded by his family
His obituary will say he was so manly"

An excellent opener for the year!

Peter and Leon:

Good way to start the year—nice modern folky sound to this one. Like the guitar work following that second verse and thereafter. Love seeing a great collaboration!

Regards to you both,

Deej

Upon listening Janice said, "those bad men need some instant karma!" Yeah.

"But that would make me just as bad as them
Oh it’s really quite a quandary that I’m in"

Something we have oft discussed. Think it was Bob Dylan that referred to folks
who'd rather pull you down in the hole they are in rather than come up where
you are. A quandary indeed.

To ice the great write you guys provided some fine vocals and guitar chops...
as expected smile

The mix sounds excellent on the monitors...everyone is hittin' the note.

Great thought provoking listen from two of our favs!

J&B

PS Definitely a bad lookin' dude in the cover art!

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
