Please for the love of Pete... Give us an option for STRAIGHT QUARTER NOTE Bass lines! The foundation of every bass players groove arsenal, straight quarters. I can't tell how many times I've had to beg bass players "I know you can play 2000 notes a second... But what I want are quarter notes"
Nothing else has THAT feel. It's the basis of all life on earth! Quarter Notes!
I was excited to get a program like BIAB because i THOUGH It would solve this issue for me, but alas...
If you could add it to the "Bass Pedal" feature set in the Chord Options setting that would be perfect. Right now the Eighth Note option found in above mentioned location is a BEAUTIFUL thing!! STRAIGHT EIGHTH NOTES!!! YES!!! such a great feel Now if only you could add STRAIGHT QUARTERS as an option... You know you want too!!!
This was mostly jest, but if it could be possible... please add the ability to play quarter note bass lines. Oh and make it backwards compatible with version 2019 LOL! Thank you, and thanks for such a great program! I do really love BIAB!!
You should be able to create a usertrack to play just what you need, that maybe easier and quicker than wishing for PG to do it. Actually I think Frank may have made up some bass...
yes

Right click the link > Open In New "Window" (as you may get ads that pay for the free hosting) To decompress use Winrar or 7zip. You can create a shortcut by \bb\RealTracks\UserTracks right click Send to Desktop create shortcut.. now just drag it out of 7zip or winrar onto the desktop shortcut.
I do appreciate all the help you guys give! It makes this a great community! But I really NEEEEEEED STRAIGHT QUARTERS!! Nothing else gives you that feel. I don't want licks, runs, transition notes, Just a basic line... stay on one single note until it's time, then change to the other. LOL! They did an excellent job in giving the option to drive straight 8ths, I just wish it would do straight quarters. Thank's again for your help!!
Thank you. I will look into those. I would try to create my own but I really don't have the proper stuff to record onto PC. Any time I try I've gotten lag issues and such. My PC isn't to spiffy
Electric Preferably. That is pretty close to the idea. But I don't want 5ths, octaves. walks, runs or licks Or at least have the option for no frills when wanted I want Just a single note to play quarters. Think U2 or the intro to Van Halen, Runnin with the devil... That kinda thing. Thank you for replying, I appreciate all the people on here who answer these forums!
Root note on bass is all I need. I usually ONLY program for bass and drums. But on the occasion I do add piano parts I'd like a fairly laid back part on it also. But so far everything biab has created for the piano parts has been extremely usable, no real complaints.
Why not just use MIDI? You can play the quarter notes for a section of your song and copy and paste them for other verses, choruses, etc. You can quantize your notes so they can be exactly on the beat and exactly one quarter note in length. There are a number of free and inexpensive good sounding bass VSTis you can use for your sound source. Just a thought.

This is another guide but same deal: 1. Go to bb\RealTracks and right click on UserTracks folder > Send to Desktop create shortcut 2. You can use 7zip https://www.7-zip.org/download.html to open Guitar, Acoustic, Reggae Strum01 Ev16 4-4 90bpm.rar 3. Drag the yellow Guitar, Acoustic, Reggae Strum01 Ev16 4-4 90bpm folder out of 7zip onto the UserTracks shortcut on the desktop. 4. Select an empty track up the top of Biab right click > Select UserTrack for this track. 5. Select > Guitar, Acoustic, Reggae Strum01 Ev16 4-4 90bpm
I agree with Mario, what's wrong with midi? A quarter note bass is about as simple as it gets. You already have a few synths from PG and they have good sounding basses then if you want, download the free TTS-1 which is based on an older Roland sound module. Peter posted a link for that at the top of the Biab for Windows forum. Good basses there too. Here's all you do:
A quarter note bass line is as brain dead simple as it gets. You could have it done in two minutes maybe? Certainly faster than the time it took you to write your original post.
When it comes to User tracks, most are midi based anyway, all they did was render it to audio and voila here's a Real Track in audio. The only difference between those and what you can do yourself is the qualify of playing if they were recorded live off a keyboard or another midi controller vs entering the notation manually. The other difference is the sound quality. I agree if someone created a midi User track and had a top quality synth for the sound like Kontakt or Trillian Bass yes it could sound better than a basic GM synth like the TTS-1.
Here, you asking for a very basic bass track I doubt any of that would matter. Just throw the notes into Notation and check it out.
The whole idea is quick generation, one click and it's done. I and others have asked for midi usertracks many times, this way you could add whatever sound you like. If you had a button in the piano roll "Snap Notes to Chords" "Snap Notes to Base" "Snap Notes to Scale" that would be quick.
This looks like it may work so far I'll do a full song and see for sure when I get time. I REALLY appreciate the help! this was driving me crazy!! Thank you and to all the rest who posted. I will try to check into the MIDI option as I get better at BIAB. I't sound like I could tailor thing even more going that route. Have a great day!!

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
