Hello All. This is another style from 2020 Band in a Box. All comments welcome. Rob4580 I Lay Beneath Snow The barman is closing he said you must get going he wore a wry smile in his face. One more for the road to ease my heavy load and I'll be out of this place. I think of my sweetheart who broke this old heart and I've missed her love all these years. So I keep on going her memories keep following so hard to fight back the tears. Now I will sleep sound in bed on the ground and lay beneath fresh mountain snow. I dream of her charms when she lay my arms held tight and not let me go. Bridge Now dream on sweat dreams and mend tattered seems and bring back the good times I've known. How we danced in the dark when you stole my heart now I sleep beneath fresh mountain snow. You'll find me in spring as I lay beneath sweet pine don't take me to some other place. You'll know I slept sound in my bed on the ground and I died with a smile on my face. The barman is closing he said you must get going he wore a wry smile in his face. Love that slow 3/4. All the internal rhyme is great to hear and the story is straight-up country. I really enjoyed the western sliding-around of the melody. Don't take this wrong, but it so well fits the boozy story. Well put-together song and enjoyable listening.

Wow - I thought the groove was fantastic, and the story-telling on this is captivating and heart-felt. Very vivid, and despite being somewhat bleak, it felt necessary.
I'm a big fan of this one - thanks so much for sharing!

Great job! A little Johnny Cash vibe in this one. Can't go wrong with that.

The baritone tracks in BIAB are excellent - they don't seem to fit my tempos but they're cool and you've used them well. Nice dynamic mix Rob. You do the back woods melancholy oh, so well.

This is a small masterpiece and no mistake. The lyrics are superb and the music is the perfect foil. I love the structure of the verse lines - and, though it gets bleaker as the song goes on, it is subtly and beautifully done ... the realisation that the person in the song actually dies creeps up on one before one knows it and strikes powerfully at one's awareness. In short: a genuinely excellent job - I loved it.

Rod,
A classic Country Folk sounding song. Good vocal, as always. I did not much care for the snare sound. I though it was too loud (and a little odd) for this song.

Definitely got a Cash thing going here.
Lyrically and vocally it reminds us of some of his best...and we are fans.
The baritone guitars nailed it...good job.
We like it!!!

Rob,
Johnny Cash cool—love your vocal on this—sweet melody that keeps the ears listening. The drums do need to come down just a little bit—a bit harsh in spots. But that’s a minor nit, easily corrected if you agree. Killer throwback tune! Enjoyed it.
All my best,
Deej

A good country song, sound, smooth vocal, & delivery... You have thematic shades similar to Lefty's "Long Back Veil" (Compliment)... And I always enjoy hearing your new songs!

Nice work with the musicality of the lyrics--as mentioned earlier, skillful use of internal rhyme.
The BIAB style fits your song nicely.

Starts out sounding like a "classic" country ballad, and... ...delivers exactly as advertised. Baritone guitar was killer.

This reminded me of another song You Picked a Find Time to Leave Me Lucile by Kenny Rogers.
You did a super job on this. Great story telling lyrics much in the vain of Marty Robbins. Super vocal, backing tracks and mix.
This is excellent!
Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up. Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

Hi Rob,
I really enjoyed listening to this one.
I'm always a sucker for waltzes and you've written some pretty good ones over your years here on the forum. This is right up there with the best of them!

Chillingly beautiful waltz, Rob. I couldn't help thinking this would be a song Elvis would sing when sitting around with friends. Well done!

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
