Hi Folks. I have to account for the month of January, so posting a recent tune called Doodles. There are no secret meanings - just a musical absurd, a result of sleep deprivation All comments are welcomed. Thank you for listening. Misha. Doodles Lyrics: I got a box of magic chalk I am gonna draw my world on a sidewalk I am gonna draw a sky as wide as eyes can see I am gonna draw sun that will shine so brightly Guiding my birds that will fly high and free - And if a sudden rain washes my art leaving nothing but stains I will take out my magical chalk and I will draw it all over again - I got a chunk of magic clay sitting in my pocket I am gonna sculpt a missing handle to a secret door Walking like a Riding Red Hood with her basket Holding tightly glock for wolf - eternal foe --- If a naughty kid breaks my art leaving shuttered remains I will use my magic clay And will sculpt those handles again ---- I got a bunch of magic beans, waiting for the planting I got my shovels ready, my diesel tractor all filled up. Sitting comfy on a couch reading scrupulously Farmers Almanac. --- But if a pesky squirrel gets my beans and munches them for lunch... This squirrel will grow the size of the building and these woods will get a new beast - Squirrellotozaurus Tech stuff: Band: RealTracks in song: 3486:Bass, Electric, SkaClassicAB Ev16 100 RealTracks in song: 888:Piano, Acoustic, Solo-Accompaniment PopBronx Ev 120 RealTracks in song: 3207:Pedal Steel, Background RockGrittyEddy Ev 120 RealTracks in song: 2294:Sax, Alto, Rhythm SlowPop Ev16 065 (1TrackHornSection) RealTracks in song: 3442:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm BritPsycFunky Ev16 100 RealDrums [in Song:SkaSlow70sWesPerc^1-a:Sidestick , b:Hat, Snare Midi arrangement: VArranger, synths of Halion. Hi Misha,
Your late with your january contribution, but i will look it through the fingers, because you have made a very strong number with Doodles! It's amazing where magic chalk could lead too! The funky guitar is doing very well and your vocals are very clear and strong. I almost see you dugged deep in your Kayotica eyeball to get a sound as clear as possible. well, you succeeded!
I often wondered how you can write these kind of lyrics. What happens/ happened in your head? There is one tiny issue I would like to mention: the sax. It works nice for some time, but then it -kind of- overruled the other instruments or distracts me a bit. but if no one else has this, keep it in.

I really liked this one. Your lyrics are out of this world.
"But if a pesky squirrel gets my beans and munches them for lunch... This squirrel will grow the size of the building and these woods will get a new beast - Squirrellotozaurus" is a great passage, loved it.
Magic caulk, clay, beans? No, magic music. Super in your pocket groove! Funky guitar and great vocal, this song has everything.
Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up. Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

Misha,
This is another fun trip through the Rusty Spoon world of wacky! I love the lyrics (channelling Roald Dahl?); with drawings, clay and beans showing how your optimism won`t be defeated. Good and mostly very clear vocal ( at "sculpt those handles again" they get a little lost). The reggae band with horns works for me. Much more than just your January quota song!

Misha,
Cool BAND. Cool song.
Excellent lyric.
Like many of your songs, this sounds like a new-found missing Frank Zappa creation. "Creation" often is the best description of your...creations!! (much like Zappa)
You are a talented artist.

Hans, thank you for listening and your fun comments! Yes, you are absolutely right. I will give more time to mix and will lower the sax in some places - I think I know which places you are talking about. Kayotica... I am not crazy to spend $200+ for a piece of foam. I got a it's Chinese cousin for a small fraction of that --- Mario, Thank you for tuning in and your support! --- Marty, Thank you for your comments! I am glad it bought a smile! --- Robert, Thank you for listening, your generous and kind comments & for pointing out the "lost" part! Will correct it. --- Peter, Thank you for excellent feedback! --- FJ, Thank you for listening and your generous feedback! Misha.

This reminds me of that song that doesn't sound like anything else I've heard.
I think it was about persistence in the face of adversity, both natural and man-made. It ended with total absurdity, like death.
Have you heard it? I just did.
I think it belongs on film or, even better, on stage.

The Zappa thing for sure. Had a friend who played bass with him so I do have some familiarity with his catalog And this would fit! "I got a chunk of magic clay sitting in my pocket I am gonna sculpt a missing handle to a secret door Walking like a Riding Red Hood with her basket Holding tightly glock for wolf - eternal foe" Man, that is so cool. Might be fun to go down that rabbit hole...err, I mean through that door! We absolutely love the groove, the band, the lyric and the vocal...everything is hittin' the note. Creativity abounds! Now if we could just decide whether its quirky or ominous or quirkily ominous maybe... J&B

Misha,
You should get less sleep more often—this is really well done. Very catchy chorus—and like that Alto sax playing throughout. Very original write as well; terrific idea well executed. Fun, engaging listen. Cool stuff!
All my best,
Deej

So cool... Vividly written lyrics drawn from you unique creative imagination...
Every time I listen to one songs... I am truly amazed at your uniqueness & your creativity...
Yet you simply described it as "just a musical absurd, a result of sleep deprivation"... But I think something deeper is going on here... That borders on poetic genius!
With or without music... Your poetry stands on it own!

Misha, this is really great.
Excellent lyrics, perfect melody and fantastic choice of accompanying band.
This stands out so well: "I got a chunk of magic clay sitting in my pocket I am gonna sculpt a missing handle to a secret door"
Really great, indeed.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
