So here's the challenge. Write a song about the Covid 19 fiasco.

No prizes, no accolades, no nothing just the fun of rising to the challenge.

So.... If you accept the challenge.... Here's what you do.

1. Write the song
2. Record it
3. Listen and read carefully and follow this instruction. Start a new post in the Showcase. In the subject line field... Enter "C19" followed by the song title.

Write about anything related.... Some ideas.... Flatten the curve, c19 blues, isolation exasperation, coughing, hysteria and panic, end of the world, or.... Pick your own topic and view on what's going on.

Have fun. Try to get into the groove and let's see what happens with this. Let's see what you got. Don't rush. Take your time and do a good job. Let's try to get them wrote, recorded and posted before April 1st.

And no.... I haven't even thought about a song let alone have anything ready. I'm in the same state of emergency and isolation as you..... But I have time to start.

Ready.....
Set.......
Write!

Entering a song writing contest with FJ is like sparing 3 rounds with Mike Tyson. Not advisable. grin

And regarding the subject matter. May be too early to deal with this topic in this manner as the sky continues to fall.

Nahhhh. Write something and don't worry what anyone else does. We are the prophets of tomorrow, are we not? It's never too early to write about current events.

Prophets of tomorrow? Me, I'm yesterday's future!

Hey, 'Guitarhacker' !!!

Just looked-up the definition of the word 'fiasco' you used. Dictionary says it's 'a complete, ridiculous failure'. YIKES shocked !!! Are we doomed, already frown ???

If I could write lyrics like this I would be first to jump on board. Definitely the best whimsical song writing to memorialize a very difficult time in history . Feel free to sing along, I know you know the melody. grin

Well, come on all of you, big strong men,
Uncle Sam needs your help again.
He's got himself in a terrible jam
Way down yonder in Vietnam
So put down your books and pick up a gun,
We're gonna have a whole lotta fun.
And it's one, two, three,
What are we fighting for ?
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,
Next stop is Vietnam;
And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why,
Whoopee! we're all gonna die.

OMG, I am feeling so old! Half the folks under the age of 60 and no one under the age of 50 would even know what we are talking about!

MIne is a free for all. Just lyrics off the top of my head. Add your own tune, change, do whatever you like with it - Or not. smile

I really don't want to die because folks in China butcher bats on the street
They sell them right there in the crowds and the stink
It's blood guts and gore that caused Sars and Covid 19
From those infected bats on the wet market streets

We outsourced our factories, our jobs and our money.
We made China rich in the 21st century
Yet They stood by and let ignorance infect the world.
Then tried to cover up and hide this awful peril

It's too late for pointing fingers, too late now for blame
but When we get through this I hope all who remain
Will never forget and force them to ban the wet market streets,
they must give a damn
The price is too high,
people shouldn't have to die, for cheap bat meat.

God have mercy on us all.

I remember seeing the woodstock movie in the theater. Man, that was a couple of years ago! Country Joe and the Fish were a highlight for sure with that song.

What can be more current than our own posts here on the forum
My verse lyrics came from your thoughts and posts. wink

The chorus is a freebie from me.

(V)Yesterday's future is locked up in his room
Prophets of tomorrow are clearly facing doom
It's seems like only yesterday we could freely walk our streets
Toilet paper abounded we didn't have to use our sheets

(C) Lipstick is for the lips
Toilet paper for the butt
If you get the two mixed up
You're surely out of luck

(V)Things are now so rotten, poet Floyd Jane is all done
Roger Brown is sidelined it seems the race is run
The world's a fiasco are we really doomed
Yes we are as long as Mariod is locked up in his room

(C) Lipstick is for the lips
Toilet paper for the butt
If you get the two mixed up
You're surely out of luck

Charlie, that made me laugh this morning. A laugh right now is a wonderful thing!

Really nice job on the lyrics! Very clever. Very current, like you said. Most of all, you know you audience... literally.

I thought you were going to go for the...
If you get the two mixed up
Your're surely $h!+ out of luck

Im sure you thought of it, but have more class than I do.

Is it weird reading the lyrics that I hear your voice? I can picture you doing this ine.

Anyway, thanks for the laugh. Perfect after reading a thread where a very few number of people are arguing how right they are...links and all! Lol.

Big Time KUDOS for that, Charlie!
Nicely penned.
Funny, relevant... without getting negative.

You are to be commended!! Excellent.

That's a fun idea, I'm going to try my hand at this. Maybe something slow and long to fill time while in isolation.

I'm curious how many of these entries will be in a minor key, or if lots will be bouncy and positive to brighten the mood.

So far, none are in minor keys. All are positive and uplifting. Check the Showcase forum. There's currently 2 that are sporting the C-19 in the subject and another one or two that refer to the covid ..... write something and put it up there.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
