Nicely done smile loved the lyrics on this one, and thought your vocals worked perfect as a delivery system for them. I enjoyed the arrangement overall - really lush, and professional.

Great work and thanks for sharing!

Cheers,

Love this, Charlie! Great band selection. I like the work of the guitar and sax. I like the vocal, too, but agree with floyd about adding some reverb. Also, the harmony suggestion was right on. I'm a sucker for the Major 7th, too. Thanks for sharing.

Enjoy whatever happens!

I appreciate you listening and commenting. I wasn't expecting this blast from the past today. This self isolation we're going through has folks thumbing through the pages I guess.

I like it, and agree with all the positive remarks.

Well, except for that bit about Diet Pepsi. wink

I had minor thoughts about the vocal (mostly the level), but since there's a new one on the way, I'll just say I'm looking forward to the new version.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

This is a song that resides out of my vocal wheelhouse. One day, I'll have a real singer give it a go.

This is a bump of an old post and this song thread was back in 12/2015 -- until today. It's long past my update window...

I'm really enjoying the renewed interest and comments. Thanks for listening and posting your thoughts.

Thanks Ed. According to you profile, this song predates you joining the forum... I'm feeling old....

Very nice.

I'm not sure all the lyrics are posted b/c this line really stood out as a great one, "Will love draw two hearts crossed in the sand?"

but I couldn't find it in the post.

Thanks for sharing.

You're right. The lyrics in the first post are original to what they were initially back in 2015 when this thread started. The version of the song you listen to now has been edited, updated and recorded again from what many of the earlier posts reference. Here are the updated Lyrics that match the current version of this recording you hear today. Thanks for listening and commenting as well as prompting me to update the lyrics.

UPDATED SONG LYRICS TO "SAY I DO"

NEW INTRO - Beach Waves and Seagulls with single guitar that fade-in to the --

(Instrumental Intro)

my heart skipped a beat, when you walked in the room
the night faded low beneath the lover's moon
talk comes hard, I never said a word
frozen by your gaze, I didn't have the nerve
do I stand a chance with you
please say yes, say I do

A Carolina beach, I reach to hold your hand
will love draw two hearts crossed in the sand
you turn and look my way, your eyes all aglow
can you tell what's in my heart, do you really know
do I stand a chance with you
you say yes, you say I do

say I do

(Instrumental Break)

you turn and look my way, your eyes all aglow
can you tell what's in my heart, do you really know
do I stand a chance with you
you say yes, you say I do

say I do

(Instrumental Outro with fade)

A great relatable subject, with a cool sound is hard to be. It gave me a bit of the "feels" of days gone by. I really like the Little River Band and feel this could it well in their catalog. You could say you had me reminiscing. wink

Thanks for sharing such a great song. I really like this one!

"...have feelings..." always reminds me of my wife watching The Bold & The beautiful.
The phrase didn't have currency in Australia until about a decade ago when TB&TB became an arvo staple.
Luckily this song isn't cliche' ridden.
The alto really throws the song into Isaac Hayes territory - funky story telling.

Cheers

Thanks for stopping by Greg. Regarding the lyrics, there are many here on the forum to thank for providing great suggestions to shore them up from my original version, particularly Floyd Jane. There were also valuable comments to help make the instrumentation better from several members. This is a great forum and it's a lot of fun to be here with such a great community. Thanks for listening and posting.

Glad to share and if you have any connections for contacting one of my all time favorite bands, The Little River Band, you are more than welcome to move forward with my full blessings... wink Your comments have me reminiscing about this dream I once had of being rich. Thanks for pointing out the great guitarist. I must also credit how well the guitarist played with the 1442:Sax, Alto, Soloist
JazzFunkGroovin Ev16 110. The two grooved together wonderfully with little effort from me. That being said it's a testament to BIAB RealTracks. If my memory's correct, that lead guitar was comped in 18 sections of Multi Riffs in RealBand. That's 126 total takes available to comp and punch-in into this recording. Imagine the cost and time for that to be done with a live session player in a real studio at the real cost of studio recording time. It was done at no extra cost than the cost of the program purchase price and was accomplished in minutes, not hours... BIAB is secret sauce in my studio.

I appreciate your comments and listening to this project.

Thanks for noticing and giving recognition to the sax player. At times, it seemed the sax and lead guitar were recording in the same room at the same time and playing off each others work. The result of those two make this one of my favorite BIAB projects. Other forum members chimed in back when this piece was first posted and helped me clean away obvious and pitiful cliche's. I'm forever thankful to them and this forum.

Great use of RTs, you had some things going on but none of them distracted from the vocal, which is always the star. Guitar RT was incredible on this. Nice job on all fronts here!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
