This is a redux of a song I did in 2011. I recently changed DAWs from Reaper to Studio One 4. I purchased a Faderport 8 and it came with the software. I want to improve my mixing skills and want to mix with a board instead of on the screen watching the meters.

This was quite a learning experience as they are quite different DAWs.

Missing You

The band:
RealBass 366
RealDrums Country Shuffle
Acoustic Fingerpicked RT368
Acoustic Strummed RT364
Organ B3 RT686 (My favorite).

Guitar Gibson ES 335
Amp Marshall 1974x
Effects Eventide H9x2

Also played with some Automation with Volumes in the Backtrack

Hope you like it

Scott,

I agree with Dave... One of your best.

Nice melodic playing. The organ is a nice balance.
A nice mix. (welcome to the Studio One crowd!)

An enjoyable listen.

Hi Scott,

a real pleasure to listen to. Very nice playing, veautiful sound. And, yes, that B3 RT is my favorite, too.

Enjoyed the listen.

Hi Scott,

This song has a very good influence on me. I stayed quiet (for a while) and enjoyed the feeling this song caused. In ordinary words; I liked it much! Did Studio One 4 did this to you? Were you able to mix more easy than before? I have that Daw, but I discovered I prevered Logi Pro x more. The backside of this choice is I have to use to computers, one windows and one Apple. and I know what I can do about that, but it works fine how it is now.

It's you playing the leadguitar, isn't it? Well, your fingers are still very young, Scott. Cherish that!

Hans

That's some sweet playing! I listened through a couple of times.

There are a few "clicks", such as the one at 2:59, that you might consider editing out. Or not, they're just small nits.

As a Reaper fan, I'll say - use whatever works for you, and keep making music. laugh

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

I think this is the best I've heard from you. That slowly ascending riff that you repeated a few times was money. Very airy guitar playing that I felt took me on a journey. Nice work!

It's always good to exercise the brain with learning new
software...well maybe smile

The word has already been used but, yep, the standout here
is the melodic playing. Sublime. And a nice tone to go with it!

Enjoyed it.

Thanks as well Floyd for the awesome comments. I wanted a control surface and was flipping back and forth with a Mackie device and Faderport 8. I went with the Faderport 8 and all its features were available with the Studio One software. Quite a bit of learning curve but and go anywhere so reading and experiment has been the flavor of the day lately. Glad you liked the song.

Hans thanks so much for the kind words. I am really glad you liked the song. I was really please how much better I think the Studio One is from Reaper. I have even pulled out my midi keyboard which will be making its debut on the next song with Robert, I read the Logic Pro is much better for midi. Yes I am playing my E335 on this song. Glad you liked the song.

SWEET! What a sweet tone! Super chops man!

I thoroughly enjoyed this.

My goal this weekend is to move just enough each day so that no one pokes me to see if I'm dead or not.

Scott,
Beautiful playing! Considering it was your dive into new gear and software, I think you did a very good job. Can't wait to hear your next collaboration with Robert. The last one (S.Level) was super cool!

P.S. Funny, Spirit Level came up on my song list today and it sounded great! It usually means to me that song was good from the start, if it listened well weeks from first try.
Thank you for sharing.

Sweet tone and nice backing too.
I reckon it could use a bit of a fade in.
The B3 has a very Pink Floyd feel to it behind the guitar.

Cheers

Scott,
There`s definitely a difference in the clarity of your playing here- dunno if that`s the new gear or DAW but I like the change!
Some lovely runs on this and the B3 sits behind nicely.
No charge for the bump... waaaay more listens are due imo.

Scott,

Nice melody and nice playing.
Very nice guitar tone.
I agree with Robert.
There's definitely a difference in the clarity of your playing here.
It is quite difficult to change DAW, but I think that the good effect has come out immediately.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
