I'd like to have a style that is suited for cafés or coffee shops. It should have light acoustic guitar, pop jazz baby grand or upright piano, acoustic or upright bass, and some simple light percussion with hand claps, snaps, cajon, tambourine, shaker, and wind chime. All the pitched instruments should allow the user to have specified inversions of the chords, if not have the option for both open string/root position, and bare/second inversion.

I get this. Most styles are a bit "heavy" handed. Sounds like a band that had too much coffee.

In MIDI it is easy.
For myself, I began by editing all styles I used, lowering the velocity of the bass and drums, changing the bass instrument to Upright Bass and all drums to Brush drums (all of that inside the style) and disabling piano and guitar and strings and all the rest... Later on, I began making my own styles, not being satisfied with what was already on offer, even after tweaking.

Styles with other percussive instruments are sparse, but there is an Oregon style that will cater to these needs. Would indeed be a great idea to have styles with modern percussion.

BTW, your question about chord inversions and open strings and all. The style maker doesn't allow you to specify all of this. That would be a very complicated algorithm altogether. And I am pretty sure Realtracks won't allow those options either.

Maybe this could work for you: lower the velocity of the accompaniment tracks like piano, guitar. Making it more discreet will open up room for your playing and singing, sax or trumpet. If you find other solutions, let me know, would be great.

That wasn't the point. They point was to have a style dedicated to light pop music like some off John Mayers stuff or Jack Johnson.

+1 for RTs and MIDI.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

I don't see this style having a MIDI option as I can already create with type of style using EZdrummer 2 percussion pack and use the MIDI beats that come with it or record my own MIDI with it.

A-I don't have EZDrummer 2

B-What about the other instruments? "It should have light acoustic guitar, pop jazz baby grand or upright piano, acoustic or upright bass, and some simple light percussion with hand claps, snaps, cajon, tambourine, shaker, and wind chime."

Yes I could create a song myself in the genre but having a MIDI style would be very helpful, just as helpful as all of the other MIDI styles, even those notated RTs.
YMMV

Ok, I see your point. A MIDI would be great as well.

This, x1,000,000.

Angus and Julia Stone
Iron & Wine
Thea
Lizzy McAlpine
Gracie Abrams

the list is endless. There are some decent styles that can sort of do it, but oftentimes the instrumentation isn't right. We need more Wurly pianos, Rhodes pianos, GENTLE grand piano, GENTLE upright piano, that kind of stuff.

Please, please, much more of this.

There is a lot of cool stuff but I agree so much of the existing RTs are so busy and after you get three or four they sound like an all star band on a TV special to much. Simple relaxed not over played. Example, a simple guitar where the play strums a chord, then picks a couple notes and repeats. A piano that is somewhere between a held chord and a boogie jam.

As mentioned elsewhere simple coffee shop singer song writer styles and RTs with midi

Flexibility with options has always been a strong point with BiaB styles. More 'light' styles would be a worthwhile addition.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
