Ray, Sometimes you just got to walk away from tune...not to over do it. I think you hit the sweet spot on this. Just walk away! Crunchy guitar is great! Vocals are excellent, not sure why you would want anybody else on this. Nice grungy tune! Only one suggestion, vocals couple of DBs louder. Thank you for sharing. Misha.

ray,
This is sounding really good.
The tracks are balanced well. Each part hits "just the right spot". An excellent mix.
To me, the vocals sound "too sweet". They don't have the standard "angry" that typical Punk vocals always seem to have (even for songs that aren't necessarily "angry" songs). Not that the vocals aren't "good" - they just don't "mesh" with the tone of the tracks. (An opinion, needless to say...)

The first version sounded fine, although the vocals were a bit like Waiting for Godot. Vocals on the latest version sounded fine, although like floyd jane I was expecting something a bit angrier.

Misha, Thanks, I'm almost done. I couldn't walk as I had the next part in my head. It has "sung" verses as well as some Audio embellishment related to the topic. I couldn't post it in the OP so it's here, with you: ALMOST FINISHED

fj I agree fj, I managed to get something a little better this morning. verse vocals are atonally aggressive or aggressively atonal. Thanks for the kick in the pants to do that.

Gary, Thanks for the comment and ackowledgement of time n place. I've added the verses as well as a little timely embellishment. Updated Fri 17th PG was great in the era of MO I used to go to see (st 2 albums) and he was a good minister in government...pity he copped the blame for shonks in the industry...but that's a Liberal Oppo for you. No sign of that sort of blame game with RoboDebt.

Very cool. I like it. I dig how you've incorporated the spoken sample in your song. Sorry if I missed it in your description of the song, but was this a recording of Gough? I wasn't familiar with the story, so I tried to read a bit about it on the internet. If this is a historical recording, I'm curious how the copyright works. Is it in the public domain? I love what you do in your ending too--incorporating the other song. Is that a historic song? Something from the civil rights movement? I'm curious about the licensing on that too and using it in your song. I'd love to use more historic recordings in my songs as way of commentary and/or contextualization. I suppose if I couldn't use them because of copyright laws, I could "make up" something that was similar. I admire your song. Wonderful feel, texture. Quality all around. Enjoyable listen. Cheers, Todd

Cheers, Todd Todd, yes, it's Gough. The video/audio of him is 72 and before campaign stuff and is from the national archives so copyright free. The song at the end is his campaign song from 72..written for and owned by the Labor Party so free enough too. I frequently raid youtube (with the creative commons filter) as well as the Prelinger Archives for US stuff. The audio of Gough is actually ripped from the videos of him ... yesterday I had used snippets of the video and accompanying audio as the verses but figured that was only good for a single listen or two. Gough completely changed Australia for the better in four years, rather the opp. of Mr Trump. The song and themes are very civil rights sounding/feeling as that was a major part of his promise & impact. This is a list that even a right wing paper had to make and acknowledge his achievements... Achievements Thanks for your kind words.

Very impressive. I'd love to get someone like that in office here. Of course, given our current president, I'd really be happy with anyone else at the moment. ;-) That's a great idea using the creative commons filter on YouTube. I'll give that a try. And I'll also check out the Prelinger Archives. I'm excited about incorporating some historical recordings into my songs. Great job again on your song! Really a fun and interesting listen. Cheers, Todd

Ray, yeah! I like this version: https://soundcloud.com/rayc/strangledext2lVery Cool! Fun ending! Thank you for sharing. P.S. Short story. In late 80's a friend recorded a concert of a punk band from amateur radio station onto his tape deck and made me a copy... Years later, I went and I bought "official release" of that concert on CD... I still prefer that tape recording sound better. So, please keep a copy of "unmastered" version and try to listen them side by side a year or two later, when ears heal. Misha.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
