The Seekers are from my hometown of Melbourne, Australia.
"Climb Every Mountain" was written by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein for "The Sound Of Music". It's been covered by many artists. This particular version from 1971 always mesmerises me.
The arrangement uses elements of pop sounds from the 1960s and mashes it together with a pop-jazz feel in 3/4 time (although I hear it with a 6/8 lilt). If my recall is correct, the song is written in 4/4. As I see it, this version is clever arranging.
Maybe it's just me, but I find Judith Durham a very engaging singer.
This song somehow seems to fit the crazy times we're presently travelling.
Hi Noel, A very interesting adaptation. I've been a Seekers fan since the 60s, and I've seen them live a number of times. Judith, in my opinion, has one of the purest voices I have ever heard. I last saw The Seekers about 3 years ago, and they sounded exactly like they did in the 1960s, although they are now all in their 70s.
Two stories that they told during the last concert I saw: one of their most requested songs was "Puff the Magic Dragon" ... funny thing is that they never recorded it until many years later. They got sick of saying "No, that was Peter,Paul & Mary," https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvZVBpOcmgw The second story is when they were in London, at a recording session, and they ran into Barry Gibb (The Bee Gees), Barry said he'd written a song that they might like to record; after listening to it The Seekers declined, so the Bee Gees recorder it instead. The song..... Massachusetts.
Oh, how absolutely extraordinary. Sensational and perfect in just so many ways. Judith delivers, as she always has, with musical and gospel precision. Flawless. A virtuoso.
And just as importantly, the time signature and the 6/8 phrasing, giving further interest and dimension.
What a delivery.

Is it me or does the bass seem to stumble at 15 seconds. The bass is pretty solid for the rest of the song but does seem hesitant at 1.12. I probably wouldn't have noted the 1.12 had it not been for the 0.15 spot but with the bass that far forward in the mix it seems a clunker in a fab song to me.

It says the video is no longer available. That's a shame. I wanted to hear it. Maybe the Rogers and Hammerstein police told you to take it down? They did it to me years and years ago. Back around maybe 2007 or 2008 I uploaded my own guitar fingerstyle arrangement of Edelweiss and they made me remove the video yet someone else uploaded a video playing my arrangement shortly after I uploaded mine and their video is still up to this day.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
