Guy Michelmore used the 'free'/$49 version of BBC's Spitfire to create a small orchestral score.

I learnt a ton of stuff watching this. It was 52 minutes really well spent.

Amazing what you can do when you have the talent! Me? I just continue to muddle along! Thanks for posting some encouragement. I might get there someday but until then I'm having fun.

SpitFire Audio is on fire these days shocked . They are everywhere! In fact, I bumped into Christian Henson over in another forum (more on that new forum later). He truly is promoting his vision/music in an impactful way with Spitfire Audio. Well worth the effort to keep on eye on SA and their product line.

BTW, He is going live on a presentation in two hours (11am CST today).

Edit.
This was a CLASSIC -SUPER-NERDY grin discussion of sound combined with Christian's obsession with an upright piano. I don't think I will ever listen to a piano in the same way again. If you have enough interest in this to sit still for 20 minutes I bet you will be blown away as I was.

I suspect there is not much interest in orchestral composition here in the PGM Forum. Not too much of a surprise. There is certainly a world of music outside the confines of BIAB. Over the past weeks/months I have spent more time dabbling in this area. As a result I have found a new playground to satisfy this new itch.

There is a huge audience over in this VI community. And I can't tell you how warmly I have been received. I have even bumped into a few celebrities in the music world in the past weeks in the VI forum. And spent some money in new areas to enhance my music.

I will still be around here, I am too invested in BIAB to be leaving.

Dan

Where does it stop. I looked at some of this orchestral stuff. It is interesting but it seems no matter how much one has there is never enough. I have a heap of Kontakt orchestral patches, I downloaded both the free Spitfire and many other free libraries. Then I heard the Vienna Smart Orchestra and for most things that suits me. However it is an orchestra and lacks a solo violin in my opinion so then I buy the Vienna Solo Strings Standard but then real patch I want is in the upgraded version so more money goes out. I think I have what I want now but we are talking over AU$1000 by the time I get it all in place. Maybe I would have been better off to spend a heap first go or forget the idea.

I’m lucky or not I had a bit of cash saved as I was going on my life’s holiday to Europe and saved like mad but am now really pretty much house bound.

By the way the Vienna Smart Orchestra is a really good way to go IMHO. The Big Bang Orchestra basic is free but you need an eLicense dongle. Initially I was a little put off because of the eLicense dongle thingy but they are readily available.

( I do all this not so much to create as learn more about various aspects. This really keeps me busy.)
