I have quite a few songs in process right now, so intended to put something besides another Todd Rundgren cover out next. But my video producer friend latched onto this one and found some video sources, so it got bumped forward. It's one of the most beautiful songs Todd or anyone else has written IMHO. The original has a waltz feel, and is on his 1985 "A Capella" album, which is exactly what it sounds like - no instrumentation, just vocals and processed vocals. (I think this is before studio-level digital recorders, so he used some sampler keyboards and normal studio multitrack tape systems.) My take on this one went toward a slow, smokey jazz ballad. I'm still one-handed, recovering from rotator cuff surgery. So all instrumentation is BiaB, and I mixed, added vocals, and mastered in Cakewalk. https://youtu.be/rmAOJWM0YioHere's Todd's original version - https://youtu.be/lsrockH6Iu8Style is _JZBALTS.STY (Slow Jazz Ballad w/ Tenor Solo) RealTracks in style: ~~481:Bass, Acoustic, Jazz Ballad Sw 085 RealTracks in song: ~1661:Piano, Acoustic, Rhythm BossaNY Ev 085 RealTracks in style: ~750:Sax, Tenor, Soloist Jazz Ballad Sw 060 RealDrums [in style:JazzBrushes#1: a: JazzBrushes#1b: JazzBrushes#1

Is this just a random choice that happened to be by Todd or are you a longtime Onionhead like I am? I literally have everything he has ever done, including stuff he produced.
I am using the new 1040XTRAEZ form this year. It has just 2 lines.
1. How much did you make in 2023? 2. Send it to us.

I'm a long time fan, so it's no accident. I have some other things in the works other than Todd songs, but had some events where these were more useful to put together first. I consider him one of my top 3 favorite performers/songwriters - going back to the early 1970s. And he's also no slouch in the computer technology department - has put together some early software for Apple and built his own rendering farms for videos in the 1980s.
I've been lucky to hang out with him and his family over the past 12 years or so. We went to Hawaii and camped in his front yard for his 60th birthday - along with 100+ other folks. And have subsequently celebrated his 65th and 70th birthdays in similar fashion, though not in Hawaii. I've also performed at a few events with a band his wife is in - The Intoxicats - and this past November was in a band backing two members of his original band, Nazz. I had 3 similar events scheduled this spring/summer, but we know how those have gone :-)
This particular song has always been a standout - both music and lyrics are incredible, and the "A Capella" album that it comes from was ground breaking - has have been many of his other projects.
I just noticed you are from Akron, Ohio. Have you been to any of the Rundgren Radio events there? We're in Cincinnati and have been to most of those. This year it's going to be virtual, and I was just online with one of the organizers a few hours ago testing out some event elements.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
