Hi all!

I'm happy (and a bit scared tbh) to introduce you my 1st song "Light worker". I used to play guitar 25 years ago but then decided to stop. 25 years later (nowadays) I decided to try to go back to it. I've been seriously playing for the last 2 months and I have composed this tune. I'm just re-learning guitar. Not easy but that's my challenge smile

Hopefully you will like the song.

I used Reaper to record and mix
I play all the guitars, played the violins with my guitar using SPITLAB free instruments.
Programs to have the clean and distorted sound : THU-full
Vst used : OTT, Valallah reverb, Ozone 9.

Outstanding! Beautiful guitar work. Did you say that you have been away from the guitar for 25 years, or 25 minutes!? Very polished and professional. Great work!

Very nice guitar work.

What are the drums? I don't recognize that pattern from BIAB, so if they are, it would nice to know which one...

A nice mix.

A pleasant listen.

Thank you very much Tano! One of my friend told me that music is like bicycle, you never really forget. Well, that's part true but not as easy. I have to relearn all the chords (and inversions), the scales, the fingers have to be reacustomed to play + sync between the 2 hands etc. But the more I practice (and it is tedious) the more I feel some things coming back on the surface from 25 years.

But yeah, this is still a challenge, I have so much to re-learn and I can feel I'm very far from where I used to be (I used to play when I was 20yo, only doing that in life for a couple of years).

Thank you so much for taking time to listen, your words touched me!

Thank you very much Floyd for your support which helps me to keep the motivation up!

My bad, I haven't say a thing about drums. I used 2 vsts :
- Spitfire labs free drum kit : I played a very simple sequence using my guitar (with a plugin which allows you to play midi through the instrument). Then I added the reverb on the drums which created that kind of groovy drum sound.

- For the couple of drum fills I used MT-power drum kit which is free as well.

I am finishing a 2nd song which this time will use BIAB (bass/drums) that I will in a couple of weeks here. I love BIAB, it's just that I couldn't find for Light Worker that kind of "tribal" raw drum groove that I created. But maybe I didn't look for it enough.

Thanks again for your support!

Very nice work. I really like the style and guitar tones. Great feel.

Interesting that you are using guitar midi. I have the Jam Origin Midi Guitar software that converts tone to midi and I also have a Fishman Tripleplay pickup. I don't find either of them very satisfactory and usually wind up using keyboard for midi. What are you using if you don't mind me asking....

Welcome to the forums.

Man, you are one fantastic guitarist! Love the tone of that axe! Plus your chops are second to none. Very nice chord progression also. And you mix was spot on.

Excellent song.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

Thanks for the support Chris!

Actually I used Jam as well. I agree that it is more or less usable depending on the instrument you want to emulate on the guitar. If I remember correctly I played the strings on the guitar but used the midi keyboard for the drum line since it was not a complex one.

Wow, that was great, was not expecting it to be so good after such a layoff. Great technique. Terrific ending. Audacious intro to the forum.

I would say if there was any rust after that 25 year hiatus, you quickly cleaned it off!!! Wonderful playing!! Kind of Latin jazz-rock. Wonderful!! Take care. Greg

Thank you so much Scott! There is still a long way before daring to put a toe inside a studio but your words really touch me!

Hi Angelomusic,

Wow... I hear so many influences in your playing, yet it sounds so fresh and original.

I hear Scorpions and others from back from when music was still good.

Thanks for posting, I enjoyed listening to it.

You play well and the arrangement is "epic".
The tone of your lead guitar is classic but, possibly, too "classic".
The delay and overdrive give it a very smooth, almost generic, sound...the sort sims do so well.
Since you getting "back into it" now would be the perfect time to find YOUR sound.

Cheers

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
