All Because of You - Mid-Tempo pop/soul song. All composed in BIAB. The style gave me quite a few chord changes I could play around with. Had fun with the arrangement.

Henry,
Chording is fun on this! Nice choruses, vocal licks & mix. However I think main vocals could be a little.. how to say it right, more lively? I have heard several of your tunes to compare this with. Do not hold it against me, just an opinion smile Thank you for sharing!

Misha .. LOL .. my wife said the same thing., She thought I folded on this one. Said she loves the melody and lyrics but I didn't put enough oomph into it. She said I played it safe. You BOTH ARE RIGHT !! LOL No energy.

No offense taken. I value your opinion and on this one you are 100 percent correct :-)

Nice, catchy melody in the verses. You can easily fix the deficiencies mentioned in the vocal with a little affiance in the rerecording. I like the smooth, gliding feel of the song.

Love the arrangement and lyrics. It can be difficult to get the vocals and music to sound as if they were recorded in the same space and to my ears there appears to be a certain disparity of ambience here. Great song though. Keep them coming.

My music may not set the world on fire but if it causes a glow in just one person's heart, it has all been worthwhile smile

Smooth as a freshly-waxed dance floor. This is great steppin' music! Really impressed by how you record your own vocal harmonies. It's a very skilled thing to do, and they sound right 'on the money'.

cool

I like it, a lot! laugh

Easy feel, nice melody, good production. Memorable chorus, pleasant to listen to.

I agree with Ghostgum that the vocals sound like they're in another space, and don't fit in with the vocals.

I could be wrong, but it sounds like the lead vocal has a few spots where the vocal is just a bit pitchy. (I'm a big fan of subtle and sparing pitch correction).

Anyway, not a big deal. I enjoyed listening!

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Hi Henry.
The music all fits nicely but I think the vocal is hiding away in the background a tad (volume and reverb?) and is weakened partly by where it goes a little out of pitch.
As already mentioned a pitch correction tool used sparingly could help there.

Thanks Ardent. I do all of my vocals by myself. They can get a little complex at times and balancing them in the overall track can sometimes be a bit of a challenge. But it's worth it to try. I'm from the old "singing groups" era with the background, choreography, and all that stuff. I was a great time for me !! LOL When I hear songs that are just "monotone" flat I find them totally boring !! They don't go anywhere. I'd rather experiment even if I don't always get it right because I know it gets better over time.

Funny, you're right I was a bit "pitchy" on this one. Not my best effort LOL If I ever re-record it I will correct it. I just sang the track right from the beginning with no corrections. I was lazy on this one but I hear what you're saying. If I was to get serious I would spend more time on the vocals and use pitch correction or comp the vocals. I actually sang this in a couple of keys. I think if I do it over I will sing it in the higher key. After listening to both I think the higher key had more impact. Appreciate the comments. Always welcome. Henry

Hi Henry,

You made a very nice song. A nice rhytme and very good composition. Also your voice is very good, though you could feel more free in your songs. But others talked about that before, so I won't discuss this further.
I stick to the sound of this song. I like what you did and lokk forward hearing more of you!

Cool song, very in the time & place. There choice of in rather than into at 0.45 seemed a little odd though.
You've a lovely voice and really ought to give this another run through just to up the vibe on a few phrases here'n'there.
Cool stuff.

Cheers

Let that vocal shine man! It is plenty good enough to have out front. If you have an arsenal
of reverbs there may be one that sets it out front and sweetly blends it in with the rest of the mix.

The aforementioned vocal, the lyric, the arrangement, the progression and the melody
are all hittin' the note!

Enjoyed it!

I just needed to turn up my volume knob and everything sounded great! The first four lines sounded like "I Just Want to be your Everything" by Andy Gibb. Then it got into your vintage soul vibe. Good work, I enjoyed it!

Hello henry ...

I sometimes think you write songs just because you I'd be listening! I love your style and delivery.

I got a very strong Al Jarreau sound as I listened. And that is a very good thing, in my book. I felt as though I was magically returned to the early 1980s and you opened for Al Jarreau, with him singing, soon after, "We're In This Love Together". And the crowd like you just about as much as they liked him.

I noticed several listeners commented on the vocal. I'm 73 years old and spent over 50 years with a guitar amp turned almost all the way up three feet behind me, so my ears aren't always true to me these days. That said, my impression was perhaps the mid range on the vocals could have been brought down just a touch and, perhaps, a slight bit of plate reverb for effect.

This is a truly delightful listen. Loved it and bunch and a little more. Well done!

Wishing you everything good. Be safe ...

Alan

Thanks, I know of Andy Gibb but never listened to any of his music. Just came up with this melody that I thought fit. Thanks for listening.

Alan, Funny, my cousin said I should do an Al Jarreau type song so I'm playing around with a couple of smooth Jazz tracks and coming up with something. Stay tuned and I wish you all the best. Henry

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
