Never Bring The Sorrow

Following Sad Stories it seemed like a good idea to post a more uplifting song.

Leon - Lyric & vocal
I played guitar & sang a bit of harmony.

The Band:
RealTracks in song: ~2475:Bass, Acoustic, HeldSimple Ev 085
RealTracks in song: 2535:Guitar, Electric, HeldChords Gritty
RealTracks in song: ~365:Guitar, Acoustic, Fingerpicking Ev 085
RealTracks in song: 676:Guitar, Acoustic, Strumming FolkRockBritEighths Ev 085
RealTracks in song: 1757:Accordion, Rhythm Pop8ths Ev 085
Loop in Song: Drums\PopRock8ths^01-ClHtSnr,OpHtSnr
RealDrums [in Song:CongasEv8[single]: a: More High Congab: More Low Conga

Never Bring The Sorrow

Everything looks bleak today
But that may change tomorrow
Every life has joy, my friend
And every life has sorrow

But you only bring the joy
You only bring the joy
You only bring me joy
Never bring the sorrow

Every thought is taking me
To places best avoided
Itchy fingers, sabres drawn
Ignorance exploited

Diplomacy is what we need
But all the talk I hear is violent
Sure wish you would call me
But the phone just lays there silent

Cause you only bring the joy
You only bring the joy
You only bring me joy
Never bring the sorrow

I know that we’ve been here before
And still the world keeps spinning
But somehow this feels different
It’s like the Devil’s winning

I need you like I never have
Restore my optimism
To get me looking at the world
Through another prism

Because you only bring the joy
You only bring the joy
You only bring me joy
Never bring the sorrow
Never bring the sorrow
Never bring the sorrow
Never bring the sorrow
Never bring the sorrow

Nicely done Peter - really enjoyed the lyricism here and though your delivery was on point. The harmonies are nice, as is your guitar work here. Thanks for sharing!

Hi PeterF,

This is a really cool tune y'all have put together. The music and the vocals/harmony have a really calm, soothing and "homey" feel. It has the sound of a song from a time when the world was not so complicated and a whole lot less evil. Thanks for posting it. I enjoyed the listen.

Hi Peter and Leon,

This is a wonderful listen. I love these lyrics, the lead vocals and the harmony, and they all sit ever so comfortably against a perfect backing! You've pulled out all stops with this.

When Leon first started singing, he reminded me of Slim Dusty. And I mean that as a huge compliment. Slim had a wonderfully engaging way of leading audiences along with his vocals as he told a story.

Really nice work!

Love the write, Leon. Vocals sound great too, both the lead and harmonies.

Good build, I like the way it starts with the Congas before bringing the drums in.

Super tasteful guitar work, loved the intro and solo(s)

Good one, Peter and Leon!

It's a good thing.
Well done.
I do think you ought to spend a little time to find that strident/aggressive freq. in Leon's voice and cut it back with some EQ on the vocal track. It'd be a simple cut that could sit there quietly doing nothing until that sound appears in the vocal.
Alternately a De- esser can be set to the same freq and do it automatically for you as needed.
Cool song though.

Cheers

That drew Janice like a magnet smile

Nice vocal performance ... lead and harmony.

The guitar bits are excellent and very melodic in nature.

You called in some fine Biab musicians for this and they laid down some great tracks. Also the congas were a nice touch -- we have used and really like that track and the 8th's keep it unobtrusive. The accordion was a nice addition.

We love this and we also love Misha's latest ... back to back they offered quite the contrast smile in a fun way.

You two never disappoint!

Leon & Peter,

A nice message, good write.

I like the simple opening leading to the full build.
Good BAND. Good drums/percussion. Nice guitar fills and leads.

Well sung. (the vocal cold come down slightly).

The lyric really sticks with you following the repeats at the end.

Well done.

Peter (and Leon);

Nice opening, cool 60s folk song vibe going on. Like that you held back on the drums until that third verse (or so). Nice touch on the accordion, as it adds some lovely warmth. Like others, like that solo too—perfect fit and feel for the song. Great stuff, gentlemen—really enjoyable tune.

My best to you both,

Thanks for bringing joy on this forum. Catchy and positive songs are what we need during these times. I like the transformation from acoustic start to the more electric ending. Accordion and congas add nice folky vibes. Leon's 'life experienced' vocal track supports the message perfectly.

This is an excellent folk/rock song. You really captured the feel of Americana here and the guitar adds a nice rock vibe and a bit of a southern feel. The guitars are excellent, and the vocals and lyrics really work well. It's definitely an uplifting song. One thing that really stood out is smooth delivery - the song just slides right into a comfortable groove and just leads you along for a nice ride.

Enjoyed and appreciated smile

Peter and Leon,

What a nice uplifting song, sounds great on the headphones here, while it was playing you should see my feed tapping and my head bobbing along in time to the music.

The vocals are nice and easily understood which I like a lot, and your guitar and harmony is very good too.

A really enjoyable listen.

Hi Peter and Leon,

A joyful song in a dark year. That gives a good feeling for everyone!
I almost missed it on the crowdy forum. If you miss some days you miss a lot!

Very atmospheric, with the congas and the harmonica playing softly in it.
I enjoyed listening and there was only one tiny problem; it was too short...

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
