Hi all-

Still unsure what the difference is between reply and quick reply in these forums.
Also when replying to a comment, does the original commenter receive a message?

Thanks,

gpt

This is a quick reply. I don't know the difference, so I will do both.

This is a 'regular' reply.

As to your other question, No, the OP does not receive a notice that someone has made a comment on his/her post. [EDIT: see below.]

The "Quick Reply" button just takes you quickly to the bottom of the page to enter your reply in the "Quick Reply" area at the bottom. That way, if you are reading a posting at the top of the page and wish to reply, pushing the button takes you immediately to the bottom of the page to reply, and you can start typing.

The "Reply" button opens another page to enter your reply, but also includes different options such as auto-inserting UBB code, emoticons, etc. Of course, if you know the exact UBB code, you can type it manually in the "Quick Reply" area.

Thanks for the info, Scott.

It says "Do you want all replies to your favorite topics emailed to you?". I wasn't sure what 'favorite' meant there. Does that mean that you will only get some of the responses? I'll give it a try and see.

... also, my observation is that "Quick Reply" references the poster of the last reply in the forum. If you use "Reply", though, it will reference the person whose post you clicked "Reply" on.

e.g. This is a quick reply and as Matt Finley is the last poster (at the time of my typing this), my post will say [Re: Matt Finley] in the header. If I had clicked "Reply" on (say) jford's post, the heading reference will be [Re: jford]

... just to show you what I mean. I clicked "Reply" on jford's post to put this one on the noticeboard.

On the Reply page (not quick reply) is a check mark to designate your reply as a favorite. Those are the ones that will get emailed to you.

Actually, I'm usually up by 4:30-5:00 every morning. My wife works from home, but starts at 4:30am, so I end up getting up not long after her. Keeps our hours somewhat in synch.

One other point: Quick Reply automatically names the immediately previous post as your respondee, whether you want it that way, or not.

In the worst case, somebody may post in the topic while you are composing your response -- your Quick Reply will then be directed to that new post, although you never saw it and even if it has not the remotest connection. Some of the bizarre and confused tagging of replies in the forum must stem from that.

True. We do not need any additional help to be sometimes bizarre and confusing on our own.

One of the other major issues is that with the Reply, versus the Quick Reply, you get all the UBB codes, the smiley icons, and other stuff that you would manually have to add via HTML markup in the Quick Reply.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
