I expect someone has already posted about this but I thought it worth mentioning that IK Multimedia have a really good special on Total Studio 2 Max. Even though I already had Amplitube and some of the amp extensions I decided to get this for some of the other plugins. Money well spent. The Lurssen Mastering Console is just about worth the price on its own. Plus, if you are looking for some orchestral instruments the package includes Miroslave Philharmonik. I am a huge fan of Amplitube and this package includes a big variety of amps.

You also get SampleTank with just about every instrument you could desire, including some excellent pianos...

This is not a sales pitch. If you are interested check it out carefully but I thought it would be remiss of me not to mention it.... I know I would have loved someone telling me about this if I was just starting out and looking for instruments... Until the end of December you can buy the complete package for $250. Unbelievable value IMO.
