Bit of a fun project here. I decided to use the AI composer AIVA to generate a full song, add the chords to Band in a Box to generate a few tracks (just upgraded to 2021 so it was a good excuse to play around with it), add some lyrics and a vocal and just see how it turned out. I used one the pop ensemble preset in AIVA and generated 5 tracks in BPM 80-120. I liked one that was generated in G minor so I took it into Studio One and used Serum presets from EWS Coda and KSHMR Symhony. I wasn't wild about the drums it generated so I went into Band in a Box and liked how the chords sounded with the Emoting Minimal Neo Soul Realstyle. I added the drums (RockNorthern^2-a:Snare, HiHat Closed , b:Snare, Open HiHat - Wayne Killius) and piano from that style (RT2505: Piano, Electric, HeldChords 085 - Miles Black). I used the piano as midi with a Rhodes serum patch. I then wrote some lyrics along to a vocal melody I came up with while listening to the track before recording lead and some ad-libed backing vocals. I didn't bother using the melody it generated for my vocal melody this time. I do think AIVA has a lot of potential for use in projects like this. I've generally used it to help start the creative process as it comes up with chord progressions and melody ideas I'd have never thought of myself. Have a listen to the original generated track and my completed track below and let me know what you think. AIVA Generated Track Finally Free - Final Recording

Very good production and nice use of the BIAB components to supplement your original track. You've encouraged me to find out about AIVA--very interesting concept! Thanks for posting!

Thanks for the feedback and taking the time to listen.
AIVA is an interesting concept. It always comes up with interesting ideas and I'm amazed that an AI can compose good quality songs in so many different styles. It's obviously not perfect and never could be, but it's definitely useful if you can't come up with anything creatively and need something to get you started. I've spent the last few months just creating backing tracks as I don't seem to be able to get going on lyrics or melodies but I wanted to keep improving my mixing skills nd this has been a great tool to help.
I've also been using Orb Producer which is a similar concept and I've found some interesting results, although nothing I've been able to turn into a full track yet.

Very creative workflow, Richard, with a very satisfying result. The chorus is very haunting and sticks with you. Very well done. Enjoyable listen.

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
