Hello good people...

Even though I'm a long time owner... and user to some extent... I have only in the past couple of weeks started watching videos and reading about how to do so much more than I was doing in BIAB. Needless to say that I'm amazed at how deep this software is.

But... and here's a couple of questions about what should be easy for me to figure out and to do.

First up is, I have my song speed set at 90 and have it slow down to 87 on the last 2 bars. Everything is working as it should except when the song goes back to the beginning the speed stays at 87 and I have to retype in 90. I'm wondering where I go to make it reset on it's own.

And next, how do I stop my song from automatically starting the song over again once it finishes? I swear I've looked everywhere, up, down, and all around to find something somewhere that will let me turn this feature off.

Thanks so much in advance... much appreciated.

/Bobby

Probably the same method you used to slow the song down can be used to set the tempo back again: Click on Bar 1 and press function key <F5> then set the tempo to 90.

To stop the repeat, see the second and third screen captures below (depending on the screen layout you use):

I had this issue in the first few days of using 2021, there was also a short thread about a similar issue that I responded to around that time.
Most of my songs have a retard in the final 3 or 4 bars and I have loop on as default.
When looped the song did not revert to the original tempo but stayed at the last tempo set.
This had not happened prior to 2021.
As VideoTrack says the quickfix is to set your tempo in Bar1.

I reported this to support around Dec 8 and it seems to have been fixed in one of the new builds after this date.
Are you up to date with your build updates, we're currently on 813.

Well... this was one of those "slap myself in the head" and scream "why didn't I think of that?" moments shocked

The song tempo change is something I should have figured out myself. But I was looking for the loop on/off in the preference menu.

As for my "build"... I'm not sure what it is but I do know that I have a totally up to date version 2019. I'm waiting to see how bad the Christmas season will be when the statement comes in. That should tell me when I can update to version 2021. grin

Thanks for the replies!!!

/Bobby

Bobby, you can find your Version and Build number from the Help > About Band-in-a-Box drop-down menu. The Build number is the number in brackets immediately after the Version number, near the top of the screen.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
