This seems to be new. It seems to slow start of play. if you stop, make no changes and start play again, it loads into memory again.
Is this WAD?
Thanks Dan

Hi Dan, Welcome to the forums. It's difficult for me to interpret your post above. I need a bit more information. Please note that when you say, "load into memory", I am taking that to mean, "regenerate the track". First: When you stop the song and then restart play, how do you restart play? Do you use the space-bar? Do you use the "Play" arrow? Do you use the "Generate and play" arrow? Do you double-click on a bar? If you use the "Generate and play" arrow, then the tracks will definitely regenerate and so playback will start a little later. Try using the "Play" arrow and see if that makes a difference. Alternatively, simply double-click on the bar from which you want to start play back. Second: I don't know how to interpret WAD. Could you please explain the term. Regards, Noel

This may be another observation of an extended time to start play on a set of tracks which has already been generated.

This may be another observation of an extended time to start play on a set of tracks which has already been generated. Could be Dan, See my 'theory' on a possible cause in my reply to this post. We also need to know the length of the song. This can dramatically affect the generation time.

Ok every time i hit Play BIAB at the top of the screen "Loading WAV file to memory ... please wait" this takes about 30 secs ... the song is 6:04 in length ...
It has nothing to do with generation ... no changes to the song are made.
So this simple sequence ... PLAY ... STOP ... PLAY causes the message above. annoying!

It now looks like PATCH 814 gets rid of the message at the top of the screen but it still takes 40 secs to do this simple thing PLAY ... 40 secs song starts playing(i let a few bars play) ... STOP ... PLAY ... 40 SECS song starts again at the beginning.
START ... 40 SECS ... SONG ... PAUSE/CONTINUE PAUSES ... PAUSE/CONTINUE... 40 SECS ... SONG resumes

It now looks like PATCH 814 gets rid of the message at the top of the screen Glad you mentioned that cause I was seeing nothing here... ...but it still takes 40 secs to do this simple thing PLAY ... 40 secs song starts playing(i let a few bars play) ... STOP ... PLAY ... 40 SECS song starts again at the beginning.
START ... 40 SECS ... SONG ... PAUSE/CONTINUE PAUSES ... PAUSE/CONTINUE... 40 SECS ... SONG resumes In my mind the design requirement is for a immediate Play once the code has been generated the first time or once the tracks have been frozen. This is necessary for those of play live. I am seeing a delay (dependent on the lenght of the song), but a delay none the less in this re-play on every attempt. I am going to make an executive decision and call this a bug. I will alert the developers.

For info: Definitely confirmed as a problem. Has been reported directly to the developers.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
