This is all class...the sparse arrangement of the 1st third was fantastic in building tension. When the band is in "less" mode there's something in Leon's voice that stands out as in need of taming - it's a freq I can't isolate in the mix but it's strident and a little grating...if you can isolate that and reduce it somewhat the rest of the rich and expressive voice will be even better. EXCELLENT twin leads...excellent overall.

Peter & Leon,
Really! like this. A solid write (maybe one of your best). And very "musical" production.
"I could do a good impression of a man" <-- Nice!
"We can keep up this pretense Of a man who’s doing fine Dreaming dreams and making long term plans Not lost and lonely, killing time" ....also nice
The Stairway-like beginning is cool. As is the build as it goes.
The acoustic lead into the twin lead and then the soloing (all beginning at 3:45) is some of Peter's best work. The entire ending is a great, huge sound...Love that.
Much enjoyed.

hey Peter, what I like: - The chord progression - the way it escalates from a fairly minimal production at the start to a full-blown multi-layered sound fiesta - the fact that you played some of the tracks yourself - the twin guitar solos... probably my favorite part of the song, both in terms of content and mood - the fact that your solo contains a recurring motif... __which after all these years is still the thing I find missing in so many songs posted to the user showcase. - lyrics I never had a woman leave me, but as a widower I identify with the phrase I used to think I would be helpless if you left me But still I carry on I guess I must’ve had some deep reserves to draw on Cause still I carry on Nice work

Cool tune. It reminds me of some british rock I've heard.
The thing that threw me was the first part has a swing feel to it, then somewhere right before the band kicks in it changed to an even feel. Am I wrong on that or did I simply miss the even tempo start?
Nice playing on the live parts. And yep.... Good vocals too

............. I couldn't have said it any better. This is a masterpiece. The way it builds reminded my of the band Boston. Great vocal, outstanding lyrics, and as usual fantastic guitar work.

I agree with the "haunting" assessment. Good write !
Double guitars ad some real interest.

+1 to what's already been said! Pat did all the hard work talking about the song elements, and fj the analysis of the lyrics. I especially loved the ending!

This is a great song, sung and produced well. The outro is so strong that I would have introduced it earlier between verses. But still great as is.

Peter & Leon ...
After Pat and Floyd - an the other folks, too - every single thing I thought of has already been addressed. They said it so much than I would have. But please know - I really like this and think everything about it shines in the best and brightest of lights. Simply put ... excellence at ever mark. Best to both of you ...
Alan

Hi Peter & Leon,
what can I say that the forum's experts haven't already said.
Okay, da capo: great structure - the song 'grows' with every bar. A perfect arrangement, flawless sound and most of all very well sung and amazing work on the guitar. The repeating riff at the end is gorgeous !
Another great collob, guys, a very good listen on an otherwise dark and snowy sunday morning.
Stay sage,
Stefan

Well written lyrics. Good vocal delivery. Outstanding guitar(s) as usual. The electric guitar especially blows me away. Way to make it wail! That guitar riff to end is out of this world good. Good mix. The band was right on time too. Cool song.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
