I apologize in advance if the answers to my questions exist on the forum. I have done a search.

A song I'm working on (country rock flavored) has a piano part on the Soloist track (all the other tracks are used). I'm using RT #2026.

I want the part to have a simple rhythm and I did hear it a few times randomly when I reloaded the song. unfortunately it did not stick. I think I can use the "freeze" feature to lock it in when it comes up. Right?

The main question is - How to I find this part since many of the times I reload, the piano part is too flourished for what I need? Other than reloading the song multiple times, and then listening to the part, is there an easy way to search for this part?

Second question - If the part I want comes up in one part of my song, is there a way to copy and paste it into another part? Or can I somehow choose which part I want the track to use?

I hope this makes sense.

Thanks in advance for reading this.
Richard

Welcome to the forum.

Yes, when you hear what you want, freeze that track.

There are a few places where you can specify what is called ‘simple’ for a track.

But I’m confused. You said your piano part is on the Soloist track. That track, and the Melody track, do not regenerate so they should be playing the same thing each time. Please give us more detail so we can test:

What version of BIAB is this? Mac or Windows? What build number (see this in Help, About).

Thanks for the quick reply. It's Windows version 2020 (724)
64 bit

Not sure what else you need.

What about my second question?

Yes you can cut and paste parts. With RTs you have to be sure that the right chord is playing with you move pasted parts around. With MIDI it doesn't matter as you can edit the pasted part to fit the chord structure.

I hope this helps.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

I put RealTrack 2026 on a song, and yes, it's very busy. I also noticed there was no Simpler option on the top right of the RealTrack picker. That tells me you should look for another RealTrack if you want simpler playing. None of the acoustic piano soloist country tracks have the Simpler option, so try one intended for a higher tempo like #1865.

Ok, I will try #1865. Thanks for the tip. By the way, I know how to save favorite styles. Is there place to save favorite individual instruments?

MarioD,
Thanks for the reply. Pardon my ignorance, but how do I copy and paste a part of an instrument track to another place in the song. I know how to copy and paste chords to new sections of the song. If I copy and paste chords will they include the musical part that's contained at that point in the song? Thanks again.

I do all of my cutting and pasting in my DAW. If you don't have a favorite DAW and you are on a Windows OS then you have one in RealBand.

I use BiaB as a scratch pad. I input chords, pick a style, and do a little messing around in BiaB but all of my heavy work is done in my DAW. I find this workflow works best for me. YMMV

No it will only copy the chords. You would have to regenerate the song to include those new copied chords.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
