This is a beautiful song!

i like your phrasing throughout ...

for example in the chorus, where you tie "things that only lovers do
moments that only"... very nice!

this song is understated loveliness.

well done!

Well, it's finally happened. My favorite Floyd Jane song.

It certainly wasn't this alone, but the harmonies on "do" are excruciatingly beautiful. I'll have a hard time explaining this one to the one I love, but it'll be fun. Trust me.

Beautiful melody!!! Loved every second of this song! And you're mix captured the beauty perfectly.

Very few things inspire me to write like a good riff and this is an excellent one.

Outstanding!

And the intro and outro sound effect are a creative addition.

THEN

I gave it a listen. Man, this song is beautiful in every sense. A lot of what I would say I've said about your other songs. Your attention and application are both at those same high levels, however you manage to have variation at the same time which keeps everything new!

...never get tired of hearing that smile

If you haven't sung in your higher register much, you've been squandering a real gift. I absolutely loved it. I'm not just comparing it to your other songs either. If I never heard you sing before, it still sounds fantastic!

That surprises me, actually, but also nice to hear...

I simply can't write a short reply to your works ever. I am holding back SO much!

I'll just sum it up as this a truly great song in EVERY aspect.

(still wanting to say more...lol)

Wax on, my friend! Always a pleasure to read your thoughts on song and production...

Ha! Sort of like saying "I bought some tires, and I figured I may as well build a car to go with them."

I normally don't like to look at lyrics first, but for reasons uninteresting to this narrative, I read them first this time.

Man, you know how to write solid lyrics. laugh

Clearly sung, with vocals front and center. Yes, even in front of the guitar riff. wink

Jumps right into harmony. It sounded like Helicon, but it had me wondering, because yep - you did at least one of those tracks yourself.

I expected drums on the second verse, but real sparse use of the kick, and the drops out at the start of the final chorus. Making more with less. The hihat gets, what.. four taps? And there's some reverse sound coming in at 3:00?

So - nice attention to details, subtle arrangement to keep everything clear, excellent fj vocal... what a treat. smile

The guitar VSTi was programed perfectly, your vocal was outstanding as usual, the harmonies were great, the lyrics fantastic, and the mix was super. This may be your best to date.

Another winner in my book!

Thanks, Peter. I have enjoyed working with the acoustic vst - and think about doing more with it (there is a lot to learn - even with the limited free version). That type thing is showing up more and more in contemporary Country...

Floyd,

Love that acoustic guitar melody—really catchy and engaging; grabs you right from the start and keeps you until the last. Just the right percussion choices along the way—subtle but adding so much to the song. Among your best vocals. Just a real pretty song, too! First rate all the way!

My very best to you,

Deej

Very nice indeed. The lyrics are excellent, you sing them beautifully (your upper register sounds real good to me) and the guitar sounds great. Another top quality song.

Regarding the lyric you are preaching to the J&B choir smile

We are very happy to have a relationship that lets us relate to this song on a personal level. Thanks! Outstanding write.

Janice said if she was attempting a harmony she
would be so mesmerized she would forget to sing. That
says it all re your outstanding performance.

We know zero about all of the technology and talent and time regarding the acoustic guitar but us rubes thought it sounded good.

The arrangement, band, and mix really focus well on supporting the vocals which are the star of this production.

Excellent!

Floyd,

This is so awesome, I decided to rip off the riff and try it on my Yahama.

Sounds nice.

Man, I got something coming up.

Thanks!!!

smile

* Seriously, this is great. But it DID make me run straight for my guitar, which is a good thing, and it DID give me an idea immediately.

Or at least me.

I'm impressed, but I won't say one of your best. That has still to come!

"Once I had it, I thought I might as well write a song with it..." Haha. Might as well. No one can do it better, Floyd. You're the kind of songwriter that can pick up a handful of dust and make humans... smile and sing, and be glad to be alive. Glad I found your music! Another brilliant performance.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
