First off, what they ^^^^ said. Second, I love it. Man, some people can dip their toe back into a style like this; but you did a cannonball! Obsoletely GREAT "real" country. How do I know? Of the many examples I could give, I will give this one. " she'll take no rein" would probably have to be explained to the most of the country artists of today. This just sounds every kind of right. Thanks for this one!

Good tune on a topic that...well, we all know someone like that.
Enjoyed it. And... it got me to thinking that maybe I can redo a song I did a number of years back on the same topic but without BB. All parts were recorded live in 3 different studios in 3 different states. We'll have to see.
Anyway, yep, enjoyed that from you. Good job on the production.

Incredibly clever lyric writing.
Fantastic the way you have brought the additional drums in on the chorus.
The harmonica fills everything perfectly, without almost noticing.
Sensational delivery, really.

Hi Floyd. Nicely done with a clever lyric. I notice that Michael had a part in this. Was it his idea to get the harmonica in there? I know he loves that sound.

Hi Floyd,
A superb backing track with a great mix of instruments which are all working together as they should be. A nice up-beat tempo which makes me feel this will sound good in the truck.
Wonderful vocal and a perfect harmony.
Excellent mix as usual.

Great eye catching title. You just gotta open it and see what it's all about.
You could sing the proverbial New York phone book (remember them) and it would sound great. The fluidity with which you vocally handle genres and subgenres is something to behold.
You always treat with as Janice just said "little vocal nuances that are perfect for the line," and this is no exception.
2015 or 2021 or whenever ... it's most enduring.
Your mixes and track choices are always so consistently good that we nearly forgot to mention it. Excellent.
And a fine write ... rein, remain, domain -- yeah!
Great post mr jane,
J&B

Hi Floyd, you know that I don't know much about Country (though I'm learning quite a lot here in the forum), but that song really got me. Very catchy melody (especilly the chorus), very good lyrics, a brilliant backing track and a n excellent mix. Forgot something? Ah, yeah, awesome vocals. Just floydish from A to Z. All the best, Stefan Thanks, Stefan!! Glad you enjoyed it!! I laughed. Would have danced if I could. And I smiled. I loved it and hated to leave at the end of the song. I'm glad you released this tune to the PG Music - Public Domain....
Well crafted masterpiece.
Charlie Thanks, Charlie!!! Glad to see you've posted a new one... I'll get to it soon... got some catchin' up to do...been away for a bit.... Floyd,
A country masterpiece...
Awesome song and arrangement. Your vocal is just the best - you really are a great singer.
I love everything about this!
Bob Bob - really appreciate that!! I see you've got another posted... will get to it soon....

Love the lyric, vocal and groove — almost everything except the bass.
The bass sounds like one of those auto-generated, one-button arpeggiated chord lines from a Lowrey or Yamaha home organ from the 1970s. The drum kit you chose has a nice pocket but that bass line is nowhere near.
BIAB has better samples (not all, of course) as does just about any DAW and VI library. Really, though, this song is begging for a P-Bass in the hands of a real player locking with those drums if you can swing it.
If I didn't like everything else so much, the bass wouldn't have bothered me.

Another country masterpiece from the country master. Really enjoyed the mix and of course, those great vocals. "Public Domain" deserves public acclaim. Nice of you to say, TM.... The wordsmith with a fantastic voice produces another masterpiece.
" she'll take no rein the girl will always remain... public domain" What a fantastic line!
Two thumbs up for another winner from Floyd. Thanks, Mario. Mike deserves most of the credit for the lyric content... Very well written tune. Great hook. Smooth, clear recording. Band was well rehearsed too.
Good one. jpt3 - Thanks!! Really good Floyd and Michael! Love the instrumentation. Very well mixed, full and rich and vibrant. The lyrics are extremely clever. Great idea! Keep 'em coming! Thanks, Mr. Snyder!! The hits keep coming!
A creative lyrical story song well. The band sounds perfect. Well constructed, performed and mixed.
I give it a 10
moto We appreciate that, moto...

It must be country - it's got banjo and harmonica. Upbeat, catchy. Sort of a jaunty skip beat, matching the opening lyric. The literalist in me was initially thrown (no horse-related pun intended) by the line: she'll take no rein the girl will always remain... public domainBecause the phrase take the reins is usually associated with a horse's handler taking the reins, while the horse would take the bridle. Yeah, poetic license. I bet you're regretting that "Comments of any kind welcomed" right about now. As clever as the title is, it feels a bit tacked on. With the emphasis on the horse analogies, I'd think a lyric like "the one you can't tame" would be a better fit. Good arrangement, nicely mixed, expressively sung. I liked the stereo spread of the background vocals. Nicely done, you and Michael! David - I always enjoy reading your comments. Now for some horse play... Indeed, "take the reins" would mean "here, you take control..." I would expect that your horse would "take the bit". However... A horse that is not trained can only be turned in a direction by pulling hard on the rein on the side that you wish to turn - for this, let's say "left". You would pull the left rein out or back. Pretty hard, pretty far, typically (untrained horses can be quite stubborn). A well trained horse can be turned left by simply moving your hands - holding the reins - slightly to the left - just above its neck/mane - which is actually laying the right rein against the horses neck - lightly - on the right side. The horse knows to turn left. There is no "bit pulling". THIS is known as "taking a rein". A horse that will "take no rein" has not been trained to "rein". So the point here is that our girl refuses to be "controlled" or "lead"... Yeehaw. Giddy-up...

Hi Floyd, This is really well done, lyrics are fun, and love the vocal and BGV's. Nice arrangement and the mix is just about perfect I think. Another hit! Thanks, Dave!!! Great write, Floyd and Michael. Title, not status. Ha, that's what she said. What a great band. Man, I think of the cost of getting that talent into a studio. Then you add that unmistakable and engaging vocal style, Floyd. Perfectly coiffed mix without a note out of place. When we reach for the best albums on the top shelf, we have to stretch a bit higher to grab yours. You say the nicest things, Marty!! All appreciated!!! Hi, Floyd !
I just had to comment on this wonderful song of yours ! It is nothing short of a masterpiece - love it very much ! I´m writing from my desk in our new apartment here on the outskirts of Helsinki and outside it is too darn hot over 30 degrees which is quite rare uo here !
Take care ol´friend !
Cheers Dani Always nice to see you pop back in, Dani!! Thanks!!

Very clever lyrics and great angle! Suggest that you get rid of the last two lines of each verse to get to the chorus just a touch quicker; this would also get rid of the only use of first person in the song ("belonging to no one, believe me"). Regardless what you decide, this is well done and I really enjoyed it. Just my two-cents.
Na zdrowie!

Hello Floyd,
A strong song of yours (again!)! I read you made this one in 2015 with Michael. That is some time ago and since then you improved your style even more. The vocals are very good in this song, close, warm and sensitive. The lyrics are strong, although "belonging to the public domain" can be looked at in many ways...
It was very pleasant to listen to it. Thanks, Hans
