PUBLIC DOMAIN

her heart's skipped around for a long time
her arms have held countless men
that look of love in her eyes is blind
her kisses drift on the wind
the soul of a gypsy
a touch that brands your heart
belonging to no one believe me
not the smallest part

you can borrow her love for a while
   she'll laugh, she'll dance, she'll smile
she'll love you then leave you
   she'll take no rein
the girl will always remain... public domain

you love that she can't be saddled
you hate that she won't settle down
she leaves you reeling and rattled
but knowing love that knows no bounds
she asks nothing in return
she holds no regrets at all
you can't own her, still you never learn
and again you fall...

you can borrow her love for a while
   she'll laugh, she'll dance, she'll smile
she'll love you then leave you
   she'll take no rein
the girl will always remain... public domain

so borrow her love for a while
   laugh, dance, smile
she'll love you then leave you
   she'll take no rein
the girl will always remain... public domain
that girl will always remain... public domain

The reso & harmonica are an great match.
Your voice has fantastic presence in the mix.
This would've been ace with a syrupy , string soaked arrangement but I'm glad you opted for this strong, solid band.
Cool cautionary tale and terrific melody.

Cheers

Top notch. Most memorable lines:

her kisses drift on the wind

you love that she can't be saddled
you hate that she won't settle down

Keep them coming!

Very cool groove on this tune Floyd. Very cool word play with the lyrics. Very creative. Super vocal, backtrack and production as usual. +1 on the radio ready.

Hi Floyd,

you know that I don't know much about Country (though I'm learning quite a lot here in the forum), but that song really got me.

Very catchy melody (especilly the chorus), very good lyrics, a brilliant backing track and a n excellent mix.

Forgot something? laugh

Ah, yeah, awesome vocals. Just floydish from A to Z.

All the best,

Stefan

I laughed. Would have danced if I could. And I smiled. I loved it and hated to leave at the end of the song. I'm glad you released this tune to the PG Music - Public Domain....

Well crafted masterpiece.

Another country masterpiece from the country master. Really enjoyed the mix and of course, those great vocals. "Public Domain" deserves public acclaim.

The wordsmith with a fantastic voice produces another masterpiece.

" she'll take no rein
the girl will always remain... public domain" What a fantastic line!

Two thumbs up for another winner from Floyd.

It must be country - it's got banjo and harmonica. wink

Upbeat, catchy. Sort of a jaunty skip beat, matching the opening lyric.

The literalist in me was initially thrown (no horse-related pun intended) by the line:

she'll take no rein
the girl will always remain... public domain

Because the phrase take the reins is usually associated with a horse's handler taking the reins, while the horse would take the bridle.

Yeah, poetic license. I bet you're regretting that "Comments of any kind welcomed" right about now. wink

As clever as the title is, it feels a bit tacked on. With the emphasis on the horse analogies, I'd think a lyric like "the one you can't tame" would be a better fit.

Good arrangement, nicely mixed, expressively sung. I liked the stereo spread of the background vocals.

Nicely done, you and Michael! smile

Hi Floyd,

This is really well done, lyrics are fun, and love the vocal and BGV's.

Nice arrangement and the mix is just about perfect I think.

Another hit! wink

Great write, Floyd and Michael. Title, not status. Ha, that's what she said. What a great band. Man, I think of the cost of getting that talent into a studio. Then you add that unmistakable and engaging vocal style, Floyd. Perfectly coiffed mix without a note out of place. When we reach for the best albums on the top shelf, we have to stretch a bit higher to grab yours.

Enjoy whatever happens!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
