Hi All,

Here's a simple folky slow-jam type of thing...

This is called Blue Tonight.

Guess I’m thinking, guess I’m done
Guess I’m going blind looking at the sun
Guess your busy, guess you were right
Guess your getting on fine with your life

I don’t know but sometimes I see the light
Guess I’m tinted
Shades of blue tonight

You kept my records, you kept my words
You kept me singing like a blue Bluebird
You got the best of me, you got it wrong
You got me trapped inside an old Dylan song

I don’t know but sometimes I see the light
Guess I’m tinted
Shades of blue tonight

Guess I’m crazy, broke up inside
Guess I’m trying to find a place to hide
Guess your running, guess you knew
Guess it’s all over now my baby blue

I don’t know but sometimes I see the light
Guess I’m tinted
Shades of blue tonight

I don’t know but sometimes I see the light
Guess I’m tinted
Shades of blue tonight

That's great , Bob. As I was listening I thought, "Man, I really like that voice. It reminds me of a better-singing Dylan." Right then is when you sang, "You got me trapped inside an old Dylan song." Really good song, well written, and produced.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Hi Bob,

What a lovely, but sad song you made. And what a nice melody.
I was thinking of the same sentence Marty quoted about what you sang about Dylan.
Your vocals are made for this songs.
You can feel what you sing...

But to be honest, i have that with -I think- all your songs.
And I like that!

Have a nice day,
Hans

WOW Bob this is top shelf all the way.

Your vocal was perfect for this song and our lyrics were fantastic, very poetic.

The backing tracks and mix were also spot on.

Two thumbs up.

Great song oozing sadness in the touching lyrics, in the simply beautiful chord progression and in the emotional vocals mixed excellently. The instrument selection is perfect, everything is there to deliver the strong blue mood.

Bob,

Man you are the folk rock music king around here! Everyone of your tunes deliver the goods! Emotional vocals really bring the song to a place where people can relate to what you're saying! I always enjoy your work! Thanks, Torrey

'Guess it’s all over now my baby blue'. Nice tip of the hat to the guy inside whose song she earlier had you trapped, Bob (a place I've found myself often enough smile ). Another fine song in your signature style. Such a great sound.

Leon

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

"You got the best of me, you got it wrong
You got me trapped inside an old Dylan song"

Love that!

And then:

"Guess your running, guess you knew
Guess it’s all over now my baby blue"

Excellent writing, Bob! And as always I really like your vocal.

I've been a Dylan fan forever BTW, that music never gets old for me smile

Bob,
A very cool write with great lines and an upfront vocal that communicates the sadness so well.
You are distilling the Robert Dean style to a purity here; there`s a trancelike quality I enjoy in recognizing the familiar cues- crystal clear acoustic guitar, great drums and that gravelly voice!
Loved this.

Robert

Well we see that our reaction to the lyric has already been well covered.
At the risk of redundancy the Dylan references are very cool. As is your vocal.

Your mixes are always high bar and this one just sparkles and sets up a great soundstage.
That acoustic guitar sounds great! The upright and held piano are perfecto.

Outstanding...already listened three times!

User Tip: How to add drum fills without changing any other tracks

MarioD has shared some great advice when it comes to adding drum fills without changing any other tracks in your song:

There have been a number of questions asking how to add drum fills without changing any other tracks in a song. This is especially important if one is holding a chord for a few measures and wants to add a drum fill prior to the next chord. The following is how to accomplish that:

1-get the instruments/tracks to play like you want but don't worry about the drums for now.
2-generate the song.
3-freeze all tracks
4-unfreeze the drum track
5-add your fills where you want them
6-generated the song again - note this will only generate the drum track and not the frozen tracks
7- when you get the drums like you want them freeze the track
