Angelic DreamsThe title says it all. BiaB Style - Rendevous - Arpeggiated Ballad Tempo - 60 bpm I deleted the drums Bass = Kontakt-Kirk Hunter Virtuoso Ensemble - 2x bass Piano - Kontakt - Solid State Strings Guitar - Kontakt - nylon string guitar Guitar (copied track) - Kontakt - American Zither Strings - EastWest - symphonic choir I am playing the following via my MIDI keyboard controller: Vocal lead - Kontakt - AVP (I forget which vocal choice) Lead Viola - Kontakt - Kirk Hunter Lyric string quartet - Amati viola Staccato strings - Kontakt-Kirk Hunter Virtuoso Ensemble strings Long strings - Kontakt-Kirk Hunter Virtuoso Ensemble strings I am trying to learn to mix songs with orchestra tracks so any constructive criticism is welcomed.

Lovely work on this Mario! Nice job bringing the instruments in and out and with the swells on those synths! You are masterful at putting these type of songs together! Thanks, Torrey

Hi Mario,
Yes this definitely sounds like Angelic Dreams - very smooth and restful.
Mix - all sounds good to me.
Well done.
Best Regards Nigel

Mellow and soothing. Nice interaction between the vocal and the solo viola.
A tiny bit distracting that the vocal felt like it was in one space and the voila in another, but not a big deal.
The mix sounds balanced to me and I can hear everything clearly, so it works for me. Around 3:30 the backing strings could probably go down a notch.
Nicely done!

I read the title and wondered how you would portray angelic dreams, pushed play, and WOW it really sounded like angels singing. Very creative and so well done, Mario. I was wondering about your process. Is it usually the same? Do you just write what you feel, then listen to it and come up with the title. This is another Mario Magic tune. Thanks.

Nicely done! Thanx for the comments David, I appreciate them. The vocal sound unfortunately has the reverb hardwired to the patch so there is no way to change that. I just tried to match that the best that I could but it looks like I have to try a little harder and/or find new angelic vocal patches sans the reverb. Mixing is hard for me with these types of songs so your comments make me feel like I'm on the right path.

Thanx Marty for these very nice comments. Having a brain that is a half a bubble off center takes my workflow all over the place, thus it changes from song to song. For this piece I had an idea about how I wanted the song to sound. So I did the following: 1-choose a BiaB style 2-laid out some chords and generated the song. 3-revist the styles to determined if I had chosen the right style, for this one I did: I was lucky this time. 4-use the VSTi put all of the MIDI tracks into my DAW Studio One Pro 5 5-picked each track's sound 6-picked the lead sound and played it via my MIDI controllers. 7-played the other parts 8-repeated 5-7 until I got what I thought was the right combinations. 9-mixed all tracks in mono and/or dead center 10-panned the tracks to my liking 11-added track effect(s) where necessary 12-mixed all tracks again 13-added master effect(s) 14-mixed one last time then off to soundcloud.

Mario, Peaceful tune. Nice form. I like most of instrument choices except AVP pads? (I think) the aahhs.... It does not sound natural compared to other, more acoustic instruments. Also, in a few places strings start too brutal, I would ride them into the mix a little smoother. Otherwise, mix is very crisp. Those cool K.Hunter instruments sound very good. Fun playing. Crazy things you do with that wind controller. I tried going that route, but found fingering complicated. I hope one day they will make a simple recorder or melodica type instrument for lazy people like me. Thank you for sharing.
Misha.
P.S. Really cool waveform of the tune.

Mario,
Angelic is such a good word to describe the mood and ambiance you’ve created with this lovely tune. Such a sweet production, everything fitting in together so well. Heavenly! No suggestions from me on the mix—sounds spot on to my ears.
Best regards to you and yours,
Deej

P.S. Really cool waveform of the tune. Misha, thanx so much for the comments. I agree about the AVP pads. They are old and I have decided to look into some newer ones. I'll take a look at the string sections. You can record a recorder or melodica type instrument and convert it into MIDI via any monophonic converter. Melodyne is the best and the monophonic version isn't very expensive, $99 USD: https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Melo5Ess--celemony-melodyne-5-essentialIt also comes free with a number of DAWs. IIRC RealBand can convert it also.

Beautiful melody and chording. The instrumentation is mellow and the arrangement has no distracting elements. The angels are surely dancing this in a heavenly ballroom and divine rays are filling the air.

Nice work mario. I don't do midi and only occasionally do orchestral parts. I do watch/listen & learn form this chap though: I don't take his courses - I just filter through & watch the stuff that I like which seems to relate to your suggestion request... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3hIcKkKID8k

How about an alliteration?

Great performances by you.
Lovely and very cinematic and ready for the film sync libraries!

Yes! A mellow and mellifluous Mario masterpiece. (As you can see, I like alliteration.) I enjoyed this very much.

Hi Mario,
It is a very vaporous composition in relation to the title. The solo violin is excellent. The variations are well thought out and create a very soft and very pleasant charm.
Kindly regard Derochette alias JaniJackFlash

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
