We have had a number of users that were in the DAW mode of
BiaB without knowing it. I have been caught a couple of times myself. I think PGMusic should have a warning/message that is included when one is in DAW mode. I don't mean one of those yellow warning/messages that come up but one built into the DAW mode GUI.

{edit} an afterthought maybe yellow highlighting the DAW mode window.

I propose we just eliminate this feature. I don't even think it is worth the time discussion it.

Almost, I think if the entire window was highlighted it would be a better indicator, maybe something like this:

Attached Files (Click to download or enlarge) (Only available when you are logged in)
DAW Mode.jpg (48.18 KB, 60 downloads)

I respectfully disagree. In some cases it is more convenient than the VSTi.

I agree a change is required. We've been discussing this issue and getting users 'unstuck' for more than 3 years. This would not be a difficult feature to implement.

I assisted a frustrated new user with this just yesterday. It was that person’s first post.

The whole "DAW mode" thingie feels like a weird hack and it confuses people. I wish PG would review other software for ideas on implementing drag and drop. Most I've seen simply give you an icon to drag. And drop. No special "mode" that changes the program's main window.

So yeah, I agree with Dan...drop this "feature" and implement something simpler and more standard.

I use the feature and hope we keep it. However, some visual indicator is needed to show people that the DAW Mode is on. Couldn’t we try that first?

A long time ago I pointed out we do not need one icon to turn it on and another icon to turn it off. Use one icon and have it turn red or something when toggled on.

There are some great ideas in this wishlist thread. We'll pass this along to the development team. If you have any other thoughts on the topic, please continue to post here so it is documented for development to review.

This has been raised in the beta test section several times, so I would have presumed the developers already were aware of the users concerns. But thanks for your efforts to alert them again.

Repeat wishlist/suggestions are always welcome! It helps it stay at the top of our minds so we can let the developers know it's something that's still being sought after. We get a lot of suggestions, so the more people suggest and recommend it, the better! We always appreciate the feedback as it helps us to make the program an even better one than it already is!

Cheers,
Ember

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
