Hi everyone! Remember me? I have big exams coming up, so I've had to knuckle down and study hard for them - hence my absence from this amazing forum. I'll try to catch up with as many songs as I can, as soon as I can! I'm still alive, though :-) Tonight, in a very rare break, I was looking through my old songs and found one from 2018, when my mastering skills (already very doubtful) were practically non-existent. I worked a little on it, and here is the end result ... hope you like? :-) I don't have the BIAB instrumentation any longer, sadly - hope it's ok if I post this anyway. All feedback very much welcome! https://jamesdelsono.bandcamp.com/track/postcards-at-christmas-4LYRICS: "It was a quiet day in New York City And everything was looking pretty Children running through the snow ..." "It was a sunny day in Cincinnati And everybody was looking happy People smiling as never before ..." "It was a stunning day in Lake Dakota Everybody's son and daughter Singing loud and clear ..." Only here in London Town I'm alone, creating sound, Stifling a tear, "It was a stunning day in Lake Dakota Everybody's son and daughter Full of festive cheer ..." Only here in London Town I'm alone, creating sound, Wishing you were here. CHORUS Come home for Christmas, darling Treasured one of mine Come home for ham and turkey, Presents and mince pie The children are waiting, expectantly, For your safe return If just for Christmas, come home.

Christmas... maybe it is time to start waiting for Santa to return Very nice moody lyrics, beautiful melody and chord progression. Warm instrumentation and mix. Very pleasant vocals. I can almost feel snowflakes falling - would fit perfectly in a Christmas movie. Janne

James, Wow! Very good write and performance. That slide, almost Hawaiian guitar works very well. Sweet tune. You improved your vocal recording technique so much! Happy for you. Thank you for sharing.
Misha.

Hi David, the website should be fine! Give it another go, perhaps?
Misha, thank you! I'm really happy that the vocal recording technique is better - there's nothing I want more than the ability to sing my own songs! Prior to being on this forum, I thought it impossible - what you guys have taught me is invaluable! Thank you! :-) and thanks for such kind comments!

James,
My word . . . I’m so used to hearing you do spoken word I was taken aback by how wonderful your vocal is here. You need to sing your tunes more often. Lot of feel and emotion in your delivery, and you have a nice tone. The mix is excellent. Without a doubt, one of the best things I’ve heard from you! Well done!!!
All my best,
Deej

David Snyder: no worries! Whenever it's meant to be! :-)
Deej: Wow. Those are some serious compliments right there. Thank you! I must say, I don't think it's so much my voice as the post-production work I've done on its track, haha ... but I'm gonna take the compliments anyway! haha :-) Thanks again ever so much for listening and, of course, for such kind words!

Missed you, brother. I haven't heard the original, but this one sounds mixed very well, James. Your voice shines as always. Cool country solo in this beautiful Christmas-card song. Simple and sweet!!

James,
I agree with ray - this has a real "Honey" vibe...
Always good to hear you sing.
Very nicely done. Mix is good.

Uh-oh. I swear I never heard "Honey" before, never even ever heard of Bobby Goldsboro before. How on Earth do two songs end up so similar? His is by far more beautiful, it goes without saying, but ... hmmm. Back to the drawing board for me! :-)
Marty: thanks. Missed you too, brother. My voice went through some post-production and a half for this song, but ... I like the end result, haha, so I'm glad you like it too! The guitar solo is all BIAB :-) Thanks so much for such supportive comments, as always!
FJ: thank you! Nice of you and Ray to think of "Honey" as a possible soundalike. I'm flattered! I can certainly hear the similarities, but "Honey" is a stunning song, now that I've actually heard it ... I'm a soppy so and so when it comes to songs, so I don't mind saying I blubbed and cried like a baby when hearing it. This Goldsboro fellow knows how to tug at one's heartstrings. Anyway, I digress ... thanks for your kind words!!! Always good to hear compliments from someone like you :-)

Thanks, Janice and Bud. I was worried it was a little too emotive and sad for Christmas ... so I'm glad you like that side of it! :-)

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
