My wife set around with me listening to songs from 1930 to "Who Let Out The Dogs"...lol I played guitar and sang every loud song I know. Wonder the neighbors didn't call the cops...lol
Talked to a dear friend who has a music store in Houston, Texas who is still alive and kickin. You just never know when you are my age who is still going to be alive when you call.
If this damn pandemic would slow down here in Miami I would go out and play live tonight somewhere even if it was on the sidewalk in Miami Beach...lol
It is so easy to set here in front of this computer and get involved with recording to the extent that I forget to just play and have fun.
Played along with Cleo's Back by Jr Walker and the All Stars and I think my dog is a democrat, and Long Haired Redneck, just to name a few...lol
I wish we could play together here on the forum!
Billy

Yes. Last evening when I got to try out a bass I have been working on. Started as a Squier Bronco that I bought used for $25. I liked the short scale and the neck rivals the finish I have on some really expensive Taylor and Larrivée acoustic guitars. Decided to make it my main 4 string and bought a Lace Sensors Alumitone pickup for it, CTS pots, toggle switch to change between .047 and .022 microfarad tone caps, and a toggle to single the Humbucker. Put the pup in the same proportional location of neck to pickup as a Music Man Stingray. Played along to the best of my ability with nocco cat transcriptions of Sade bass lines on YouTube. So much fun! But the electronics have a short! Gratuitous pic of the bass After that enjoyed a few Rick Beato videos on YouTube

Honestly I haven't had a "fun" musical day the way you mean it in decades. But I have never had fun at work. Mailman, IT wizard... it's not fun. It's my job. But that's just me and my "burned out on music" mindset. Even now working with a band again, I go to rehearsals grudgingly because I know I am walking into a room of people who are not prepared, who have not touched their instrument since the last rehearsal, and generally don't really care, and that is extremely depressing to me to have to work with people who don't respect the music. I am an insufferable beast at rehearsals. We will do as many "agains" as needed until I say it's right. And I am an overachieving perfectionist, so it is NEVER right.
At the last gig one of the singers ended a song with one more chorus to go. And because of THAT mental mistake all the other 9 people on stage looked like we didn't know what we were doing. I stewed for the rest of the night, and you can see in pictures the difference "before mistake" and "after mistake". When we got back stage I EXPLODED and let that singer know that this is NOT funny and that they didn't do their job and SHOULD forfeit their paycheck for the gig. Also that if I had the hammer of power in the band that from that moment on we would be a 9 piece band.
Flub a note, okay. Mental mistakes, never. If someone blows an arrangement it means we have not rehearsed often and hard enough. I expect perfection, even knowing that there is no such thing as perfection.
Yes, I take music too seriously. And it isn't fun. It's a job.

I wish we could play together here on the forum! Billy
You know, Billy, there was that time when it seemed the leading edge of the internet was going to be on-line meetings. It seemed like a natural. I got into CamFrog back in the day, in a kind of open mic format. It was great. Then things shifted to other directions. Still, that interactive feature in real time continues with apps like Zoom. There is a fabulous satellite based off-track-betting program that some night clubs still use. The technology exists.

I truly do not understand why we don't have once or twice a week jam session over Zoom or Skype or several other things that could work. Post an idea in advance, a chord progression or some lyrics. There are a large number of really good players here and some of us could just watch. Billy

From the tech point of view, the latency issues could be both challenging and fascinating.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
